This 1963.5 Studebaker Avanti was built in the summer of 1963, and it was classified by the Avanti Owners Association International as one of the first 30 1963.5 models built to start the 1964 production run. The Jet Thrust 289ci V8 has been fitted with an R2-style Paxton supercharger and paired with a 200-4R four-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in black over custom tan upholstery, and equipment includes staggered 17″ and 18″ Budnik wheels, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with a Wilwood master cylinder, power steering, Dakota Digital instrumentation, an aftermarket air conditioning system, cruise control, and an Alpine CD stereo. The seller acquired the car in 2025, and service in August 2025 included an engine-out refresh and reseal. This Avanti is now offered with a copy of its order sheet, service records, and a clean Tennessee title in the seller’s name listing the car as a 1964 model.

The Raymond Loewy–designed fiberglass body was finished at the factory in Avanti Gold (P6333) and has been refinished in black. Exterior details include polished trim, dual exhaust outlets, and wraparound chrome bumpers with rubber guards. The trunk seals need to be replaced, and the seller tells us that a replacement set of trunk seals is included in the sale.

Budnik 17″ and 18″ wheels are mounted with Cooper Zeon Sport tires. The car is equipped with power steering and rear coil springs. The braking system is comprised of power-assisted front-wheel disc brakes with yellow-painted caliper covers and a Wilwood master cylinder.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in custom tan leather with patterned center inserts. The leather extends to the door panels, dashboard, and center console, and the latter two feature woodgrain trim. Equipment includes an aftermarket air conditioning system, cruise control, an Alpine CD stereo, aftermarket speakers, aircraft-throttle-inspired climate control levers, and overhead switchgear for lighting and fan control.

The custom steering wheel features Studebaker Avanti wordmarks, and it fronts Dakota Digital instrumentation. Approximately 8,500 miles are shown on the digital odometer, though total mileage is unknown. The fuel gauge is inaccurate.

The Jet Thrust 289ci V8 has been fitted with a Paxton supercharger, an R3-style carburetor enclosure, additional chromed parts, and an aluminum radiator. The engine was torn down and resealed during an engine-out service in August 2025. The seller notes that voltage drops under heavy electrical loads and that installing a higher-amperage alternator may be beneficial.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 200-4R four-speed automatic transmission. An August 2025 service record notes that the transmission shows signs of wear and that second gear slips, though the seller tells us that the transmission was rebuilt and the torque converter was replaced later that year.

A copy of the order sheet from the Studebaker Museum lists equipment, engine and serial numbers, and an August 14, 1963 final assembly date.
