This 1965 Jaguar XKE is a Series I coupe that received a repaint in Opalescent Golden Sand, an interior re-trim in County Tan, and a rebuild of its 4.2-liter inline-six as part of a two-year refurbishment completed from 2012 to 2014 at Euro Sport Fine Automobiles of Cumming, Georgia. Chassis 1E31900 was listed on BaT in December 2022 before being sold on the site in May 2023 and subsequently underwent over $37k of work from December 2023 through March 2025 at Specialty Car Solutions of Houston, Texas. Updates involved retrofitting a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, rebuilding the triple SU carburetors, performing a valve adjustment, and more as detailed below. This XKE Series I coupe is now offered at no reserve by the selling dealer—a BaT Local Partner—with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, an owner’s manual, service records, a tool kit, a jack bag, the removed four-speed manual transmission, and a clean Texas title.
Series I E-Types were equipped with enclosed headlights as well as taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example left the factory finished in Opalescent Golden Sand. The body was stripped, underwent rust repair, and fitted with various reinforcements as well as a replacement subframe, floors, and trunk pans as part of the aforementioned 2012 to 2014 refurbishment.
The car features a louvered clamshell hood up front as well as a side-hinged rear hatch. Further details include a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, wraparound bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and coupled with four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 205/70 were mounted in December 2023.
The cabin was refreshed using a County Tan–colored interior trim kit sourced from Suffolk & Turley of Warwickshire, England, in the course of the 2012 to 2014 refurbishment. The kit included a replacement headliner, seat covers and cushions, door panels, and carpets. The car is further equipped with a push-button AM/FM radio, a heater, and lap belts. The center console was modified to accommodate the transmission change and the seat rails were replaced in 2024.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an inset analog clock, and centrally positioned auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows just under 15k miles, less than 100 of which have been added by the selling dealer. True mileage is unknown.
Specified from the factory with triple SU carburetors, the 4.2-liter inline-six was rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque when new. Engine work as part of the 2012 to 2014 refurbishment included decking the block, resurfacing the valve seats, boring the cylinders 0.040″ over, polishing the crankshaft, and turning the flywheel as well as replacing the valve guides, pistons, main and rod bearings, valve springs, and gaskets. Work from 2023 to 2025 at Specialty Car Solutions involved rebuilding the carburetors, installing upgraded cooling fans, performing a valve adjustment, rebuilding the distributor, replacing the ignition module, and changing the fuel pump.
A Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission was retrofitted in December 2023 using a kit from The Driven Man. The clutch assembly was changed, a custom clutch-fluid line was installed, and the transmission tunnel was modified as part of the installation.
