Sharing is caring, but what if you don’t care for the people demanding you share with them?
As kids, we all learned that sharing with other people is a good thing. Whether it’s the sparkly markers in your bag or the snack your mom packed you for lunch, we were always encouraged to share with our friends to show them that we care about them. We also hoped that by giving something to other people, we would eventually get rewarded in return.
As adults, we know that while, in theory, sharing is still as important as when we were kids, it’s also not as simple. Adults don’t have the same simple mentality as kids, where if you share something with them, they would want to do the same in return. They also have no problem exploiting a person’s generosity and turning a kind gesture into an obligation, which leads many people to be wary of sharing something with other people, for fear that it would turn into an unexpected daily occurrence.
