This 1988 BMW M3 Evolution II is number 151 of a reported 500 Evolution II examples produced for the model year, and it was imported to the US from Japan in 2025 under previous ownership. Power comes from a 2.3-liter S14B23 inline-four linked to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, and the car is finished in Misano Red over gray leather and Überkaro cloth upholstery. It rides on 16″ basketweave wheels as well as Bilstein dampers and is further equipped with a sunroof, front and rear spoilers, front sport seats, an M-Tech II steering wheel, an onboard computer, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo. Previously listed on BaT in August 2025 and acquired by the seller in 2026, this E30 is now offered with a clean Carfax report and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.

BMW introduced the M3 Evolution as a limited-production homologation model beginning in 1987 with increased power, revised bodywork, and thinner side and rear glass compared to the standard E30 M3. This Evolution II example was finished from the factory in Misano Red and was repainted under previous ownership. Details include an electric sunroof, front and rear spoilers, painted mirror caps, and twin exhaust outlets.

The 16″ basketweave wheels are wrapped in 225/45 Pirelli P700-Z tires with 2024 date codes. Bilstein dampers and revised springs are fitted, and the MacPherson strut/semi-trailing arm suspension was revised for the M3 Evolution II with a thicker rear anti-roll bar.

The manually adjustable front sport seats are trimmed in gray leather with Überkaro cloth inserts, and color-coordinated material extends to the rear seats. The air conditioning system has been converted to utilize R134a refrigerant, and appointments include an onboard computer, cruise control, power windows, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo.

The retrofitted M-Tech II steering wheel fronts VDO instrumentation, including a 260-km/h speedometer and an 8k-rpm tachometer as well as gauges for oil temperature, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 79k kilometers (~49k miles). Scratches are evident on the gauge lenses.

A plaque on the center console identifies the car as number 151 of 500 examples built.

The 2.3-liter S14 inline-four in the Evolution II features an increased compression ratio as well as a revised cylinder head, camshaft, exhaust manifold, and ECU for a factory-rated output of 217 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage from its first entry in 2025.
