2002 BMW 540i Sport Wagon at No Reserve

This 2002 BMW 540i Sport Wagon left the factory equipped with the Sport and Cold Weather packages and is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. It is finished in blue over a gray interior and features an aftermarket front bumper cover, a sunroof, xenon headlights, parking sensors, a rear self-leveling system, 17″ Style 66 wheels, heated power-adjustable front sport seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, and navigation. The seller acquired the car in 2024 and has since added approximately 8,500 of the 228k miles. This E39 540i wagon is now offered at no reserve with a Carfax report and a Virginia title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Blue Water Metallic and was reportedly repainted under previous ownership. An aftermarket front bumper cover has been installed, and additional exterior features include a sunroof, xenon headlights, halogen fog lights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and parking sensors. The Carfax report notes that the car was “inspected after an accident or other incident” in 2003, along with an undated accident report noted to have “likely occurred between February 2002 and February 2005.” The seller notes a chip in the windshield. Close-up photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery below.

The 17″ Style 66 alloy wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich tires. The car was factory-equipped with a rear self-leveling system, and the Sport Package added a sport-tuned suspension. Floating center caps have been added. The seller notes that the self-leveling system sinks when the car sits for several days.

The heated power-adjustable front sport seats and the split-folding second-row bench are trimmed in gray leather. Interior equipment includes automatic climate control, cruise control, navigation, and retractable cargo-area dividers. The headliner is sagging, some components are loose, and wear is evident on various interior surfaces.

The leather-wrapped sport steering wheel frames a 155-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, fuel economy, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 228k miles, approximately 8,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The 4.4-liter M62TUB44 V8 was factory rated at 282 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a Steptronic five-speed automatic transmission. A rattle is noted on startup and can be heard in the video gallery below, and the water pump has a fault code. A seller-provided list of work under current ownership is shown in the photo gallery.

Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery below.

The Carfax report notes the aforementioned damage entries.

The Virginia title carries an “Actual” odometer brand.
