Benjamin Seidler Debuts His Namesake Jewelry Label at New York Fashion Week

After spending years working behind the scenes as a jewelry and accessories designer for some of fashion’s top brands, Benjamin Seidler is now stepping into the spotlight. On Monday morning, the New York-based designer unveiled his namesake jewelry label with an intimate presentation at his Upper West Side home.

Seidler currently serves as Gabriela Hearst’s design director for jewelry, and his stacked resume also boasts positions at Chloé, Ralph Lauren, Acne Studios and Tiffany & Co., among others. For Seidler’s debut 12-piece collection, the designer turned to his three children (whom he shares with his husband, Coach’s Creative Director Stuart Vevers) for inspiration.

The label’s fawn motif — which also doubles as its logo — is inspired by Seidler’s youngest daughter, Fawn, and shows up in the collection across brooches, pearl drop earrings and tassel necklaces. Named for Seidler’s son, River, a toy car necklace crafted in 18K gold and set with Austrian crystals immortalizes the moment River gifted his father the toy for good luck while designing this collection in Italy. The statement pendant’s all-gold coating also invokes the spirit of an Art Deco scarab, per the brand’s website. And yes, the wheels are fully functional.

Functionality sits at the heart of Seidler’s jewelry assortment: For example, its “transformer” earrings offer seven different ways to wear them. This construction reflects Seidler’s architectural background, as the dangling earrings are engineered to be easily converted into smaller pendants or studs. Seidler came up with this idea by watching his mom friends remove their earrings when the accessories began tugging their earlobes down, the designer told Fashionista at his presentation. This convertible concept continues into the label’s reversible necklaces, which feature a gem and a metal side for versatile styling.

With prices ranging from $150 to $790, the collection also includes bow-shaped brooches, ribbon ear cuffs, barrettes, a collar necklace and more. Seidler’s debut jewelry offering is available in limited quantities now on seidler.co, with the full collection launching in November.
