1970 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 454/390 4-Speed

This 1970 Chevrolet Corvette coupe is said to have been parked in a garage for more than 30 years before it was acquired by the current owner around four years ago. His subsequent refurbishment included a two-stage, Motion-style repaint for its Baldwin-Motion tribute bodywork, which was sourced from Eckler’s. Its black interior was also refreshed with components from Al Knoch Interiors. The car is powered by a 454ci V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission, and it has a sidepipe exhaust system, a slanted rear window, 15″ Rally wheels, and power steering. This C3 Corvette is offered with refurbishment photos, spare keys, and an Illinois title in the seller’s name.

The car’s body kit features removed bumpers, a slanted rear window, and a Le Mans fuel filler cap, and the car was stripped to bare fiberglass, primed, and block-sanded before its Motion-style, two-stage repaint. Chips and cracks were repaired during the work. The headlight doors do not pop up, despite replaced vacuum lines, and some corrosion around body mounts is reported.

Stopping power is provided by ventilated rotors at each corner, and the car is equipped with a fully independent suspension as well as power steering. The 15″ Rally wheels have trim rings and spinner-style hubcaps.

The refurbished black interior has a replacement center console, upholstery, seat foam, carpets, and door panels. Air conditioning components are also installed, but the system is not charged with refrigerant, and the radio does not light up.

The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilting and telescoping column. The five-digit odometer shows 33k miles, although the mileage is not accurate, per the seller, who adds that the tachometer has a new cable, but it is not working.

The 454ci LS5 V8 was factory rated at 390 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque, which is routed to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction limited-slip differential. Only around 25 miles have been driven by the seller, who recommends some additional tuning and adjustments.

The engine block stamping is pictured above.

More than 90 photos taken during refurbishment work are shared at the end of the gallery, as well.
