This 1978 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is finished in Astral Silver Metallic over black MB-Tex and is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. It features a black convertible soft top, a body-color removable hardtop, a limited-slip differential, 14″ Bundt wheels, a Becker stereo, and automatic climate control. The car was listed on BaT in December 2024, and subsequent work has included repairing the climate control system, installing a digital warm-up regulator, and replacing various components for the ignition, suspension, steering, and fuel systems. This R107 shows 77k miles and is now offered by the selling dealer with service records and a clean Texas title.

The car left the factory finished in Astral Silver Metallic (735) and is said to have been repainted under previous ownership. The soft top has wear in the headliner and a tear near the rear window. Close-up photos of the exterior are provided in the gallery below along with paint meter readings.

The 14″ Bundt alloy wheels are mounted with Hankook tires. The car was factory equipped with power steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. The front subframe was reportedly replaced under previous ownership. The brake pads, brake hoses, and rear calipers were replaced in 2022, along with the rear sway bar link and a power steering hose. The steering box, steering coupling, tie rod ends, front shocks, and front wheel seals were replaced in 2025.

The seats are upholstered in black MB-Tex (101), and additional interior equipment includes a Becker Mexico cassette stereo, electric windows, central locking, and automatic climate control. The climate control system was serviced with a replacement heater servo unit in 2025.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 77k miles, a handful of which have been added by the selling dealer.

The 4.5-liter V8 features Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 180 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The muffler and the in-tank fuel pump assembly were replaced, and the fuel distributor was rebuilt in 2022. Work performed in 2025 included flushing the differential fluid, resealing the differential, installing a digital warm-up regulator, and replacing the transmission pan gasket, windshield washer pump, windshield washer hoses, fuel accumulator, fuel pressure regulator, drive belts, spark plugs, ignition wires, and distributor rotor.
