This 1973 Porsche 911T Targa has been registered in California since new and remained with its original owner until being sold on BaT in March 2023. Finished in Sepia Brown over tan upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.4-liter flat-six paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. It was optioned with the Appearance Group, forged 15″ Fuchs wheels, stabilizer bars, and Recaro front sport seats and is further equipped with a black roof panel, a stainless-steel Targa bar, H4 headlights, four-wheel disc brakes, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette radio. Service in 2023 consisted of repairing the airbox, adjusting the fueling, and replacing the shift-rod coupler and spark plugs. This 911T Targa is offered on dealer consignment by WOB Cars, a BaT Local Partner, with an owner’s manual, spare keys, a tool kit, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Sepia Brown (415) and features a removable black roof panel, a brushed stainless-steel Targa bar, a left-side mirror, stainless-steel rocker-panel trim, a fender-mounted antenna, H4 headlights, and black bumperettes. Fuchs 15″ forged alloy wheels wear a mixed set of Michelin Defender and Primacy tires, and a spare on a matching wheel is housed in the front trunk. Front and rear stabilizer bars were optioned when new, and the car is equipped with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Replacement shock absorbers, tie rods, and trailing-arm and spring-plate bushings were fitted in 2021, and brake-fluid leaks at the reservoir hoses were repaired at that time.
The optional Recaro front sport seats have been reupholstered using tan leather, and the folding rear seats are trimmed to match. Additional appointments include a heater and defroster, a locking glove box, crank windows, woven floor mats, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette radio. Dashboard cracks are depicted in the gallery.
The four-spoke steering wheel frames a central tachometer with a 6,300-rpm redline as well as a 150-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 18k miles and is believed to have rolled over once. The odometer was nonoperational for approximately 18 months before it was repaired in 2016. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.4-liter 911/91 flat-six features Bosch fuel injection, was rated at 140 horsepower when new, and has been fitted with electronic ignition and Carrera chain tensioners. Service in January 2023 by Precision Motorwerks in Orange, California, included re-securing the airbox relief valve, adjusting the fueling, and replacing the spark plugs.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 915 five-speed manual transaxle that was rebuilt in 2020 to replace the first- and second-gear assemblies. The CV axles were also replaced at that time, along with the clutch disc and its release bearing and fork. The shift-rod coupler and boot were replaced in 2023.
