The seller first purchased this 1963 GMC Suburban 1001 in 1978, and he sold it to his brother in 1981. Ownership was transferred back to the seller in 2001, and the truck subsequently underwent a multi-year refurbishment. Work included installing a 502ci Ram Jet V8 and a 4L85E four-speed automatic transmission as well as fitting front drop spindles, Lakewood traction bars, and 17″ Cragar wheels. Additionally, the exterior was repainted orange, the front bumper and windows were replaced, and the interior was refreshed with Escalade-sourced power-adjustable seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Haneline gauges, Vintage Air climate control, and a Kenwood stereo. This Suburban is offered with the owner’s manual, service records, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The body was repainted in orange with a white roof and the front bumper and windows were replaced during the build. Exterior details include a chrome grille and bumpers, quad headlights, a twin-slot upper grille, dual side mirrors, and a receiver hitch.

The 17″ Cragar wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle GTII tires. The truck is equipped with power steering, drop front spindles, and Lakewood traction bars. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The front bucket seats were removed from a 2002 Cadillac Escalade and are trimmed in tan leather. Amenities include marine-style plywood rear cargo flooring, a Kenwood stereo, a Lokar shifter, and Vintage Air climate control. Dynamat sound-deadening material was fitted and the carpets and headliner were replaced during the refurbishment. 

The wood-rimmed steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and sits ahead of replacement Haneline gauges. The digital odometer shows 3,800 miles. 

The Ram Jet 502ci V8 was installed in 2010 and features an aluminum radiator, a stainless steel fuel tank, and a Painless wiring harness.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 4L85E four-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ rear axle with a Detroit locker. Work during the refurbishment included replacing the transmission, overhauling the rear end, installing auxiliary transmission coolers, applying a Lizardskin coating to the underbody, and replacing the body mounts.
