This Cinnabar Red 1985 BMW 325e coupe is said to have remained under original ownership until it was purchased in 2019 by the seller, who subsequently modified its 2.7-liter inline-six with an M20B25 cylinder head, JE 10.0:1 forged pistons, a custom camshaft, and Supersprint headers. Shifting is handled via a five-speed manual transmission with a European-market flywheel and a 4.10:1 limited-slip differential, while Bilstein dampers, H&R springs, and a Z3-specification steering rack have been added. This modified E30 coupe is offered in Connecticut at no reserve with the window sticker, owner’s manuals, service records, a dyno sheet, a clean Carfax report, and a New York title in the seller’s name.
The two-door bodywork is finished in Cinnabar Red (138) and is equipped with a power-operated sunroof, mud flaps, and quad headlights. Dings, paint chips, and scratches are noted, and close-up photographs of the exterior finish and trim are shown in the gallery below.
A Z3-sourced steering rack, H&R springs, and Bilstein dampers are fitted. Under current ownership, the following components were replaced:
- Ball joints
- Control arm bushings
- Trailing arm bushings
- Subframe bushings
- Rear wheel bearings
- Brake pads, rotors, and hoses
The silver-finished 14″ bottle cap alloy wheels were fitted with Hankook Kinergy ST tires in 2026.
The front sport seats and a rear bench upholstered in Pearl Beige leatherette, along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a cassette stereo, power windows and locks, an onboard computer, and air conditioning, the latter of which has been converted to utilize R134a refrigerant. The cruise control does not work.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 110k miles, approximately 700 of which were added under current ownership. The Service Indicator (SI) board batteries have been replaced.
The 2.7-liter M20 inline-six has been rebuilt with an M20B25 “885” cylinder head, JE 10.0:1 forged pistons, a custom camshaft, and Supersprint headers. The air conditioning compressor, fuel hoses, fuel pressure regulator, spark plug and wires, drive belts, coolant hoses, and engine mounts were replaced at that time.
An included dyno sheet shows peak outputs of 169 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque.
The car is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential with 4.10:1 gearing. In May 2026, the clutch assembly, clutch cylinders, driveshaft flex disc, shifter bushings, and transmission mounts were replaced. A European-specification flywheel, Magnaflow catalytic converter, and a replacement muffler were fitted.
The window sticker shows initial delivery to Laurel Motors, Inc. of Westmont, Illinois, along with factory colors, equipment, and a total suggested retail price of $21,735. The owner’s manuals, two keys, and a cassette cleaner are also included in the sale.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
The New York title notes an odometer reading of “Exempt: Over 10 years old.”
