1967 Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider Duetto

This 1967 Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider Duetto was built in April 1967 and delivered new to the US. It was purchased by a prior owner in 2014 and subsequently underwent a rebuild of the 1.6L twin-cam inline-four, an interior re-trim in black leather, a repaint in white, and additional cosmetic and mechanical work as part of a refurbishment completed over a number of years. The car wears a black soft top and is further equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, dual Weber carburetors, disc brakes, and 15″ steel wheels. This S1 Spider was acquired by the selling dealer—a BaT Local Partner—in 2026 and is now offered in Huntington Station, New York, with correspondence from Marco Fazio of Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo, service records, a tool roll, and a clean Massachusetts title.

The Pininfarina-designed bodywork left the factory finished in white. The nose of the car was repaired and the antenna was shaved prior to a repaint by Moda Motive of Warwick, Rhode Island, in late 2022 and early 2023. The car wears a replacement black retractable convertible top and is further equipped with a driver-side mirror, Pininfarina quarter-panel badging, and stainless-steel bumpers.

The 15″ steel wheels wear Alfa Romeo–branded hubcaps and are mounted with 165-width Michelin XZX tires, while braking is handled by power-assisted discs at each corner. The brake calipers, rotors, and pads were replaced in 2017 along with the wheel bearings, tie rods, and center steering link. The shocks and springs were changed in 2022, while work in 2025 involved replacing the brake master cylinder along with rebuilding the front brake calipers.

The bucket seats were repaired, fitted with replacement foam, and re-trimmed in black leather as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Additional work involved replacing the Pininfarina dash plaque, carpets, shifter and handbrake boots, and various other interior trim components. Cabin appointments include a heater, a lockable glovebox, quarter-vent windows, and shoulder belts.

A three-spoke steering wheel fronts Jaeger instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and centrally mounted auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The speedometer and other gauges were replaced in 2015. The replacement five-digit odometer shows 42k miles, approximately 500 of which were added under current ownership. True mileage is unknown.

The 1.6L twin-cam inline-four was factory rated at 125 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. Work as part of the aforementioned 2015 engine rebuild at Motorsport Garage in Allston, Massachusetts, involved machining the block and head, repairing the timing cover, and servicing the dual Weber carburetors in addition to replacing the timing chains, water pump, radiator, oil pump, and lower oil pan. The starter was rebuilt in 2019, the distributor and ignition coil were replaced in 2022, and the generator was rebuilt in 2025.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Work in 2015 involved inspecting and resealing the transmission and rear axle as well as resurfacing the flywheel, servicing the clutch mechanism, and installing an IMASAF exhaust system. Replacement floor pans were installed in 2023. The seller notes rust on various underside components.

May 2013–dated correspondence from Marco Fazio of Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo notes that chassis AR664361 left the factory in April 1967 finished in white over black upholstery.
