RHD 1949 Volkswagen Beetle Split-Window

This 1949 Volkswagen Beetle is a right-hand-drive, split-window example that spent much of its life in the UK and was acquired by the current owner out of Hawaii in 2026. It has been repainted black over a white interior and is powered by a replacement 1,131cc flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include 15″ steel wheels, a roof rack, chrome ribbed bumpers, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. This Type 1 Beetle is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean Idaho title in the owner’s name.

The split-window body was repainted black approximately a decade ago and features a roof rack, rubber-lined running boards, vent windows, trafficators, circular horn grilles, and chrome ribbed bumpers. The seller notes various paint flaws.

The 15″ steel wheels wear bright hubcaps and are mounted with 185/60 Goodyear whitewall tires, and stopping power is provided by drum brakes at all four corners.

The right-hand-drive cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench that were reupholstered in white vinyl under prior ownership, and interior appointments include brown square-weave carpets, a cabin heater, and dual gloveboxes.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts an 80-mph VDO speedometer with a five-digit odometer that shows 6k miles, approximately 20 of which were added under current ownership. The seller states the mileage is not accurate, and total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 1,131cc flat-four was installed some time ago.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a non-synchronized four-speed manual transaxle.

The car is titled using frame number 108100 shown stamped above. Chassis number 10101991 is viewable on the plate shown in the gallery.
