1956 Porsche 356A Coupe

This 1956 Porsche 356A coupe spent time in Venezuela before being refurbished in Florida in 1990. The car is powered by a replacement 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle and is finished in yellow over brown vinyl. Features include 15″ ventilated steel wheels, body-color bumpers, removable headlight grilles, and bucket seats. This 356A coupe was purchased by the current owner in 2015 and is now offered on their behalf by the seller, a BaT Local Partner, in Canada with historical photos, refurbishment records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and Alberta registration.

This example came from the factory in Silver Metallic (5606) and it was repainted yellow during the aforementioned refurbishment. Work also involved replacing the floor pans and sills. The headlights feature removable mesh grilles.

The 15″ ventilated chrome steel wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires measuring 165HR15. The car was factory equipped with drum brakes at each corner.

The adjustable bucket seats were reupholstered in brown vinyl and replacement carpets were installed in the early 1990s. Lap belts have been added for the front occupants, and a Porsche-branded radio blanking plate is fitted in the dash.

The two-spoke steering wheel wears a lace-up cover and frames VDO instrumentation consisting of a central tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline, a 200-km/h speedometer, and a combination gauge monitoring oil temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer is broken and shows 94k miles.

The replacement 1.6-liter flat-four features an unstamped case and dual Zenith 32 NDIX carburetors, and it was reportedly rebuilt in 1995. Oil leaks are noted.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle, which was rebuilt during the refurbishment.

A copy of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the factory serial numbers, colors, and optional equipment as well as a production completion date of December 16, 1956.

The car is being sold on its Alberta registration, which serves as the ownership document in Alberta, Canada.
