1974 AM General M151A2

This olive drab 1974 AM General M151A2 is a Military Utility Tactical Truck (MUTT) that was refurbished in 2023, per the selling dealer, who tells us that the work included a repaint in addition to services for its 141ci inline-four, four-speed manual transmission, and driveline. The truck features fording equipment, a 24-volt electrical system, fully independent suspension, 16″ steel wheels with bias-ply tires, and a roll cage. This M151A2 is offered by the selling dealer in Texas with an operator’s manual and a Maryland title.

The M151 debuted in 1960, whereas the M151A2, with semi-trailing-arm rear suspension, was introduced in 1969. This one is finished in olive drab, and it features a canvas cold-weather grille cover, an air intake snorkel, a soft-top frame, a fording tailpipe, and a rear pintle hitch. Some flaws around the vehicle are pictured in close-up photos shared in the gallery below.

The 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 7.00-series STA bias-ply tires. Steering and the drum brakes are unassisted.

The body-colored interior has bucket seats, a folding rear bench, and a six-point roll cage.

The steering wheel fronts a 60-mph speedometer flanked by four auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 48k miles, although the selling dealer reports that total mileage is unknown.

The 141ci F-head inline-four was factory rated at 71 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. Its 24-volt electrical system is equipped with a water-resistant generator. An oil change was completed in preparation for the sale.

A four-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a single-speed transfer case. The selling dealer notes a leak underneath.

The Maryland title has a Not Actual Mileage odometer code.
