- Updated BMW X3 M50 xDrive matches the 437 hp of the new M350.
- The optional Black Package adds stealthy styling and 22-inch wheels.
- The 2027 X3 lineup benefits from updated interior trim and lighting.
The Neue Klasse BMW iX3 might be getting most of the attention lately, but the automaker is also offering ICE-powered X3. The latest generation was introduced in 2024 and never got a full-blown X3 M version. Still, BMW has just updated the range-topping X3 M50 xDrive with more power and an optional Black Package.
The most important change for 2027 lies under the hood. The SUV retains the mild-hybrid turbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine but output rises by 44 hp (33 kW / 45 PS) to a healthier 437 hp (326 kW / 443 PS) mirroring the new M350 sedan.

The extra power allows the X3 M50 xDrive to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, representing an improvement of 0.2 seconds compared to the outgoing model and only 0.3 seconds slower compared to the discontinued X3 M Competition. Furthermore, the updated powertrain meets Euro 7 emission regulations, ensuring its longevity in the European market.
Black Package For Stealthy Looks
BMW
Alongside the power boost, BMW has introduced an optional Black Package, exclusively available for the X3 M50 xDrive. This retains the standard M Sport bumpers and quad tailpipes but adds black 22-inch alloy wheels and high-gloss black brake calipers. The SUV also gains matching logos with contrasting silver outlines.

Of course, those who want more prominent aero can always dress up the X3 with the M Performance parts introduced back in 2024.
Inside, the package introduces black Alcantara trim from the BMW Individual catalogue, covering the dashboard, the door cards, part of the seats, and the center armrest. The seats also get Veganza upholstery with blue stitching and piping breaking the monotony of black, alongside embossed M logos on the headrests. Finally, the fastest new X3 gains black floor mats with blue piping, a leather patch on the M steering wheel, and crystal-like CraftedClarity controls.

Beyond the M50 xDrive, BMW has announced minor updates for the entire X3 family. These include a PVC Softskin trim in front of the infotainment display, revised stitching on the instrument panel, a redesigned glove box release, and more extensive ambient lighting.
