1953 Kaiser Manhattan Sedan

This 1953 Kaiser Manhattan sedan was refurbished under previous ownership, and it was purchased by the seller in 2026. The car is finished in green with a white roof over color-coordinated cloth and vinyl upholstery, and power comes from a 226ci Supersonic inline-six paired with a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels, a widow’s-peak windshield and rear window, chrome lower side moldings, rear fender skirts, a push-button AM radio, and a heater. This Kaiser is now offered in Georgia with a South Carolina title in the seller’s name.

The Manhattan four-door sedan was Kaiser’s best-selling model for 1953, moving 18,603 copies for the model year. This example was repainted in metallic green with a white roof under previous ownership, and it features a widow’s-peak windshield and rear window, a hood ornament, a driver-side mirror, door window visors, chrome lower side moldings, rear fender skirts, and chrome bumpers with bullet-style guards.

Body-color 15″ steel wheels are mounted with bright Kaiser-branded hubcaps, and they are mounted with BFGoodrich bias-ply whitewall tires. A full-size spare wheel is stowed beneath the carpeted trunk. Stopping is handled by hydraulic drums.

The cabin features front and rear bench seats trimmed in green cloth with white vinyl accents. Color-coordinated door panels are fitted, while green carpets line the floors. Interior amenities include a push-button AM radio, a heater, a dash clock, and a lockable glovebox.

The two-spoke steering wheel has a tan vinyl wrap, and it features a chrome semicircular horn ring. It frames a 120-mph speedometer flanked by gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, amperage, and engine temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 47k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 226ci Supersonic L-head inline-six was factory rated at 118 horsepower. It is unknown when the car was last serviced.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission that was purchased by Kaiser under license from General Motors. Corrosion on the underside can be viewed in the gallery.
