This 1982 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler SR Sport is finished in Copper Brown Metallic over Nutmeg vinyl and powered by a 258ci inline-six linked to a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a Nutmeg removable fiberglass hardtop, Marchal driving lights, wood bed rails, a 3″ suspension lift, power steering, 15″ chrome-styled steel wheels, a later-model roll bar, a push-button AM/FM radio, a Kenwood Bluetooth amplifier, and JL Audio speakers. The Jeep previously spent time in Texas, and it was purchased by the seller in 2023. This CJ-8 is offered with a tan soft top and doors, an owner’s manual, service records, and the removed roll bar, air conditioning system, and seatbelts in addition to a clean Carfax report and a clean New Jersey title in the seller’s name.

The Scrambler was introduced as a long-wheelbase pickup version of the CJ-7 for the 1981 model year. This example is finished in Copper Brown Metallic with orange and yellow graphics and features a Nutmeg removable fiberglass hardtop, a fold-down windshield, a dropdown tailgate, Marchal driving lights, hard doors, side steps, wood bed rails, front bumper end caps, and a chrome rear bumper with aluminum end caps. A bench seat is mounted behind the hardtop. The graphics are weathered, and there are blemishes and areas of touch-up paint around the body.

The 15″ chrome-styled steel wheels are mounted with 32×11.50″ BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, and a matching spare is secured to a swing-away rear carrier. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The truck is equipped with power steering and has been fitted with a 3″ suspension lift. The seller says that the right front wheel bearing was replaced in 2024.

The replacement high-back bucket seats are upholstered in Nutmeg vinyl and accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard pad, door panels, and carpeting. A later-model roll bar was installed to accommodate shoulder belts, and other appointments include a locking center console, a passenger grab bar, a push-button AM/FM radio, and a Kenwood amplifier with Bluetooth connectivity in addition to JL Audio speakers.

A replacement leather-wrapped tilting steering wheel fronts an 85-mph speedometer with inset readouts for coolant temperature and fuel level. Additional instrumentation includes a 6k-rpm tachometer and gauges for voltage and oil pressure. The analog clock does not work. The five-digit odometer shows 85k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The 258ci inline-six was factory equipped with a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 115 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. An MSD ignition control box has been installed, and the distributor cap, spark plugs, and ignition wires were reportedly replaced in July 2023. The oil was most recently changed in July 2026.

Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller says that the clutch linkage was changed in January 2025.
The Carfax report is free from accidents or other damage.
