1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible

This 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible was purchased by the seller’s spouse circa 2016 and subsequently refurbished in the style of a contemporary Trans Am, with blue stripes accenting the repainted white body as well as a raised rear wing and a ram-air-style hood. It is powered by a replacement 400ci V8 linked to a three-speed automatic transmission, and further details include a white convertible top, Rally II-style wheels, power steering and brakes, simulated fender vents, and a hood-mounted tachometer. The cabin is outfitted with a center console, Parchment vinyl upholstery, and a heater. This Trans Am-style Firebird convertible is now offered in Canada with New Brunswick registration.

The car was repainted in white with blue stripes on the hood and decklid during the five-year refurbishment beginning in 2015. Exterior details include a white convertible top, quad round headlights, a twin-scoop hood, a rear wing, a hood-mounted tachometer, simulated fender vents, and a polished front grille surround, rear bumper, and rocker panel trim. Close-up photos of the finish and imperfections are provided in the gallery.

The Rally II-style wheels wear PMD center caps and are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. The steering and braking systems are power-assisted.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in Parchment vinyl and are joined by matching door panels and black carpets. Woodgrain trim accents the center console, and other appointments consist of a push-button radio, a floor shifter, and front-seat headrests.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a fuel-level gauge. A tachometer is mounted on the hood. Auxiliary readouts for oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature are installed below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement engine is a 400ci V8 that was installed by Riverview Engine Rebuilders in Jun 2020, according to the seller. It has a chrome air cleaner lid and valve covers, and cooling is aided by an aluminum radiator.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The dual exhaust system has chambered mufflers.
