1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SL at No Reserve

This 1973 Mercedes-Benz 450SL is said to have remained with a single owner in Georgia from 1973 until it was purchased in 2022 by the seller, who tells us that subsequent work totaling over $20k consisted of installing a replacement brown soft top, addressing dents, and resealing the three-speed automatic transmission as well as fitting Bilstein shocks and replacing the rear main seal, fuel hoses, tires, front brake rotors and pads, and more. Powered by a 4.5-liter V8, the car is finished in Maple Yellow over brown MB-Tex upholstery. It is equipped with a removable hardtop, four-wheel disc brakes, and 14″ steel wheels with painted covers along with fog lights, electric windows, a Kenwood CD stereo, and air conditioning. This R107 is offered at no reserve with service records, a hardtop stand, and a clean Georgia title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Maple Yellow (606) and features a removable brown hardtop as well as a replacement brown convertible soft top. Additional exterior equipment includes fog lights, dual side mirrors, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim. Per the seller, the interior of the hardtop has been refurbished, the door and top seals were replaced in 2022, and paintless dent repairs and a repaint of the hood were carried out in 2025. Records provided in the gallery indicate paint and body work in 1990, 2001, and 2007.

Steel 14″ wheels have polished covers with painted centers, and they wear 205/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires reportedly mounted in 2023. The car was factory equipped with power steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Other recent chassis work is said to have included fitting Bilstein shocks, repacking the front wheel bearings, and flushing the brake fluid in addition to replacing the subframe bushings, control arms, and the front brake pads and rotors.

The interior was reupholstered in 1998, with brown MB-Tex covering the bucket seats. Additional appointments include electric windows, a clock, a Kenwood CD stereo, Coco-style floor mats, and air conditioning converted to use R134a as well as central locking that does not work. The shifter surround and the left-side door panel and window motor were replaced since 2022, according to the seller.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 141k miles, approximately 4k of which were added under current ownership. The odometer was repaired in 1998 after it was found to be inoperable, and the speedometer cable has been replaced multiple times. Total mileage is unknown.

The 4.5-liter V8 features Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 190 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The timing chain and tensioner were replaced in 2000, and the seller states that service during their time with the car has involved flushing the coolant and replacing the rear main seal, under-hood pad, stator, fuel tank sock filter, fuel-damper cage, rear fuel hoses, ignition points, and accessory belts.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission that was reportedly resealed in 2026. Other drivetrain work under current ownership is said to have included changing the differential fluid, repairing the reverse switch, and replacing the transmission mount and shift bushings.

A rolling hardtop stand is included in the sale.
