6.0L L76-Powered 1956 GMC 100 Pickup

This 1956 GMC pickup was purchased by the owner in 2019, and a custom build completed in 2025 involved the installation of a Pontiac G8-sourced 6.0-liter L76 V8 along with a 6L80E six-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end. Chassis modifications involved grafting a Camaro-sourced front subframe to the truck’s frame and installing QA1 tubular front control arms, a rear triangulated four-link assembly, QA1 adjustable coilovers, and power-assisted Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes. The body wears worn and weathered green and white paint, and a replacement windshield, aftermarket headlights, and a stained wood bed floor were installed during the build. Inside the cab, a GMT400-sourced bench seat is trimmed in brown and accompanied by a Lokar shifter and black lap belts. Additional equipment includes a dual exhaust system with long-tube headers, an electric radiator fan, power steering, and 15″ steel wheels with Coker Classic whitewall tires. This modified GMC Blue Chip pickup is now offered on dealer consignment in Washington with a California title.

The body wears worn green and white paint, and the seller notes that dents and dings were hammered out during the custom build. The windshield was replaced, and aftermarket headlights were installed. Additional details include a rear step bumper, a chrome front bumper, and dual side mirrors as well as a replacement stained wood bed floor with a flush-mounted fuel filler for the rear-mounted fuel tank.

The chassis was modified during the build with a Camaro-sourced front subframe with QA1 tubular control arms and adjustable coilovers. The rear frame rails were C-notched and a triangulated four-link assembly with adjustable coilovers was installed.

The painted 15″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps and are wrapped in Coker Classic whitewall tires. The truck has power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted Wilwood four-wheel discs with drilled and slotted rotors.

The cab houses a bench seat sourced from a GMT400 pickup that is trimmed in brown and accompanied by black lap belts. A Lokar shifter is installed along with a tilt steering column and black carpeting. A tear in the driver’s seat bottom can be seen in the gallery.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 100-mph speedometer, an ammeter, and readouts for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The seller notes the factory instruments do not work, and total mileage is unknown.

The 6.0-liter L76 V8 was sourced from a Pontiac G8 and installed in 2025 along with a PSI engine harness and an electric radiator fan. Additional equipment includes a Holley oil pan, fuel rails, and valve covers as well as a Holley serpentine accessory drive kit. The engine control unit has a custom tune, and the seller notes that the engine occasionally surges at idle due to the gearing.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6L80E six-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end. Full-length headers feed into a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and Wicked Flow mufflers.

The serial number on the truck’s identification plate reads 101CX1070, while the VIN listed on the California title reads X1070.
