Fuel-Injected 1962 Lotus Elite Series II

This 1962 Lotus Elite is a right-hand-drive Series II example that spent time in the UK before being relocated to the US in 2021 and was previously listed on BaT in September 2021. Work has since included installing Spax adjustable coilovers, Jenvey electronic fuel injection, and an electronic ignition system. Finished in red over black, the car is powered by a 1.2-liter Coventry Climax FWE inline-four mated to a ZF four-speed manual transmission. Features include four-wheel disc brakes, Walpres mirrors, 14″ wire wheels, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This Elite was acquired by the seller in 2026 and is now offered with a clean Oregon title.

The Elite’s fiberglass bodywork was manufactured by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, and this example is believed to have been refinished in its current shade of red during previous ownership. Features include Walpres mirrors, Lucas headlights, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes various blemishes.

Chrome-finished 14” wire wheels feature knock-off hubs with two-eared spinners and are mounted with Michelin XAS tires. Adjustable Spax coilovers were installed since the last auction, and stopping power is provided by hydraulically actuated four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears. The seller notes adjustable spring perches have been added.

The right-hand-drive interior features black seats with a matching padded armrest, center console, and door panels. Red lap belts are fitted for both occupants.

The wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, an ammeter, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The speedometer has been repaired, and the five-digit odometer shows 51k miles, approximately 100 of which have been added under current ownership.

The 1.2-liter Coventry Climax “Feather Weight Elite” (FWE) inline-four features Jenvey individual throttle body injection with Weber-style housings. Electronic ignition has been added since the last auction. Work carried out between 2020 and 2021 reportedly included overhauling the electrical system, refurbishing the radiator, refreshing the fuel tank, and replacing the fuel pump, fuel level sending unit, thermostat, spark plugs, and distributor components.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a close-ratio ZF four-speed manual transmission.

The car is titled using the last four digits of chassis number EB2131569.
