27-Years-Owned 2.9L-Powered 1973 Porsche 911T Coupe 5-Speed

This 1973 Porsche 911T coupe was sold new at Volkswagen of America in Culver City, California, and remained registered in the state through 1999, when it was acquired by the seller and relocated to New York. It was repainted its factory shade of Oxford Blue in 2011, and its replacement flat-six was rebuilt and increased in displacement to 2.9-liters between 2020 and 2021, including the installation of PMO individual throttle bodies and Clewett engine management. The car rides on 15″ Fuchs wheels with Bilstein shocks, 21mm front and 27mm rear torsion bars, Turbo tie rods, and a bump steer kit. Additional equipment includes black leather and Pepita cloth sport seats, LED lighting, a roof rack, PMB front brake calipers, a JWest RennShift shifter, a 911S-style front spoiler, driving lights, and an AM/FM radio. This 911T is now offered with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, service records, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.

The car came finished from the factory in Oxford Blue (329) and was repainted following a fire in 2002 and again in 2011 after the completion of rust repairs in the front panel, windshield surround, and front fender areas. Early-style re-anodized vent window frames have been installed, and additional modifications include a steel 911S front spoiler, a roof rack with wood slats, Durant-style mirrors, a stainless-steel muffler skirt, 9Eleven LED headlights, Cibie Mini Oscar LED driving lamps, and LED bulbs in the turn signals, brake, and reverse lights.

The 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels were mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires in 2022. PMB front calipers were also installed that year, and stainless-steel brake lines have been added. Suspension incorporates Bilstein shocks, 21mm front and 27mm rear torsion bars, Turbo tie rods, a bump-steer kit, Elephant Racing PolyBronze bushings, Elephant Racing front sealed monoballs, and an Elephant Racing strut brace.

The interior was re-trimmed in 2001, and the black leather sport seats were fitted with Pepita houndstooth fabric inserts in 2011. Dynamat sound deadening has been added to the floors, and additional appointments include a JWest RennShift shifter, a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio, air conditioning, a hidden fuel pump cutoff switch, and Coco floor mats.

The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation fitted with LED bulbs consisting of a 150-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level, oil level, oil temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer has rolled over twice and shows 17k miles, and approximately 37k miles were added under current ownership. The speedometer is inaccurate.

The replacement flat-six was rebuilt to 2.9 liters between 2020 and 2021 by Automobile Associates of Canton, Connecticut, including the installation of LN Engineering 93mm Nickies cylinders, Mahle 9.8:1 compression pistons, DC40 camshafts, and Pauter connecting rods. The cylinder heads were ported and polished, and PMO individual throttle body fuel injection, Clewett engine management, crank trigger ignition, an auxiliary oil cooler, and ARP hardware were installed. The valve cover gaskets and oil were replaced in August 2026. Compression and leakdown results taken at that time are viewable on an invoice in the gallery.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a 915 five-speed manual transaxle. A lightweight RSR-style flywheel and aluminum pressure plate were installed at the time of the engine build.

The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity lists the factory colors, serial numbers, and optional equipment.
