1951 MG TD

This 1951 MG TD was owned in Maine for decades before being purchased by the current owner in 2017. The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four has been replaced, and the car has been repainted in black. Equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, green leather upholstery, a tan soft top, and matching side curtains as well as 15″ steel wheels, hubcaps, LED headlamp and taillight bulbs, driving lights, side mirrors, a luggage rack, a banjo-style steering wheel, a heater, and dual SU carburetors. The fuel pump, carpeting, brake master cylinder, and tires were replaced under current ownership. This TD is now offered on dealer consignment by McQueen Classics—a BaT Local Partner—with service records dating back to the 1970s, a collection of spare parts, a top boot, owner’s handbooks and workshop manuals, and a Delaware title in the owner’s name.

The car was repainted in black at an unknown time under prior ownership. Autopal headlamps with LED bulbs were installed in 2019, and LED taillight bulbs were added around the same time. Features include a louvered hood, a badge bar, Moss driving lights, fender-mounted dual side mirrors, a windshield-mounted driver-side mirror, a folding windshield, wind wings, rear-hinged doors, running boards, a luggage rack, a flip-up fuel cap, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The tan folding soft top and its complementary side curtains are faded.

Silver-finished 15″ steel wheels wear polished hubcaps and were mounted with 165SR15 Michelin XZX tires in May 2025. A matching spare wheel with a Kleber tire is affixed to the rear of the vehicle. Braking is handled by drums at each corner; the brake master cylinder was replaced in 2020. The seller notes that the upper and lower control-arm bushings are cracked, and the steering box leaks.

The cabin houses a split bench seat trimmed in green leather. Appointments include a green-trimmed dashboard and matching door panels plus a center armrest, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a glovebox, a tinted sun visor, door-panel map pockets, and black carpeting. A Stewart-Warner water-temperature gauge is secured to a HaDees heater beneath the dashboard. The carpeting was replaced in 2020.

The banjo-style steering wheel has a leather rim wrap and is secured to an adjustable column. Jaeger instrumentation consists of a 105-mph speedometer and a 6,500-rpm tachometer with an inset clock as well as gauges for amperage and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 17k miles, approximately 1,300 of which were added under current ownership. The seller states that the odometer reading is not accurate, and true mileage is unknown.

The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four was replaced at an unknown time under previous ownership, according to the current owner, who states that the car has since been driven approximately 8k miles. In 2021, a low-pressure electric fuel pump was installed, and it was rebuilt in 2022. In 2025, the gaskets for the dual polished SU carburetors were replaced. The seller notes leaks from the valve cover, the front timing cover, and the oil pan.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The transmission pan and the differential are leaking, and corrosion is noted on underbody components.

A collection of spare parts that will convey with the vehicle includes Brooklands-style windscreens, bumpers, grille slats, lights and lenses, trim pieces, fuel pumps, air cleaners, wheel cylinders and other brake parts, and a pinion and ring gear.

The Delaware title notes “Antique” under the Use heading.
