1987 BMW 535is

This 1987 BMW 535is was specified in Salmon Silver Metallic over black leather, and it remained registered in California until it sold on BaT in May 2026. The car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Features include a limited-slip differential, 390mm TRX bottlecap alloy wheels, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, fog lights, power-adjustable front sport seats, air conditioning, cruise control, and power windows. This E28 shows 115k miles and is now offered on dealer consignment with the owner’s manual, receipts, a clean Carfax report, and a Pennsylvania title.

The E28 535is was offered from 1987 to 1988 and added front and rear spoilers, integrated fog lights, and a sunroof. This example is finished in Salmon Silver Metallic (203) and is further equipped with power-adjustable side mirrors, a retractable antenna, and dual central exhaust outlets. The hood was repainted some time ago. The front spoiler was refinished, a paint correction was performed, and a ceramic coating was applied earlier this year. Paint touch-ups and a ding on the right fender are noted, and photos showing finish imperfections are included in the gallery.

The 390mm TRX bottlecap alloy wheels were refinished and mounted with Michelin TRX tires in preparation for the sale. One of the center caps is missing. The car is equipped with a sport suspension, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel ventilated discs with ABS. Additional work at that time included rebuilding calipers, a brake fluid flush, and replacing the rotors, pads, and lines.

The cabin features power-adjustable front seats and a rear bench trimmed in black leather, and a plastic cover sits atop the cracked dashboard. Amenities include cruise control, power windows, and an on-board computer. The air conditioning has been converted to R134 refrigerant. The stereo does not work.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,100-rpm redline as well as auxiliary gauges for instant fuel economy, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The Service Indicator (SI) board batteries have been replaced. The six-digit odometer shows 115k miles.

The 3.4-liter M30B34 inline-six was factory rated at 182 horsepower and 213 lb-ft of torque. The water pump, radiator, radiator hoses, idle control valve, battery, spark plugs and wires, distributor cap and rotor, and vacuum hoses were replaced under previous ownership. Fluid exchanges were performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. The differential and transmission fluids were changed in 2026.

The Carfax report is free from accidents or other reported damage.

The current Pennsylvania title carries an “Odometer Disclosure Exempt by Federal Law” notation as well as an “Exempt from Odometer Disclosure” odometer status.
