1981 Action Park Battle Action Tank at No Reserve

This Battle Action Tank was part of a ride at Motorworld inside Action Park, which operated in Vernon, New Jersey, from 1978 to 1996. The park was the subject of a 2020 documentary, Class Action Park, that highlighted its poor safety record. This tank is the sixth of a reported ten produced, and the scaled-down motorized tanks are said to have been designed by Action Park employee Mike Kraemer and built by fellow employee Bob Garby. In 2022, Robert Gleason of Butler New Jersey commenced a restoration that involved repainting the fiberglass body and sliding steel-mesh cage, and replacing the hydraulic lines. The selling dealer purchased the tank in May of 2026 and subsequently installed a 9.5-horsepower Kohler Command Pro CH395 277cc four-stroke engine, Turf Rider 16×6.50-8 tires, a new battery, and other components detailed in the seller-provided invoice shown in the gallery. This Action Park Battle Action Tank is now offered at no reserve in Seekonk, Massachusetts.

Originally, the ride involved ten tanks operating inside an area enclosed by a chain-link fence. Each tank was equipped with an air-operated tennis-ball cannon that enabled riders to shoot at targets mounted on the other tanks, and striking a target halted the corresponding tank for 15 seconds. Spectators outside the fence could also operate tennis-ball cannons.

The 2022 refurbishment also involved stripping and repainting the chassis, replacing the steel bumper’s rubber mounts, fabricating steel tubs, and installing plastic side panels painted to resemble tracks.

The selling dealer installed a 9.5-horsepower Kohler Command Pro CH395 277cc four-stroke engine with electric start, upgraded the wiring, installed a new fuel tank, and more. An invoice in the gallery shows worked completed in preparation for sale and additional history and build information from the seller is included in the video below.
