LS3-Powered 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro convertible was purchased by the owner in 2014, and the subsequent build involved repainting the body in turquoise and mounting it on a Schwartz Performance G-Machine chassis with tubular front control arms, a triangulated four-link rear setup, and adjustable coilovers. A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 crate engine was installed along with a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission and a Moser 9″ rear end with a limited-slip differential. The interior was re-trimmed in black and features TMI bolstered bucket seats, a center console, Vintage Air climate control, a RetroSound stereo, and Dakota Digital gauges. Additional equipment includes a black soft top, SS badging, and an RS-style grille with hideaway headlights as well as an aluminum radiator, a dual exhaust system with an X-pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers, and 17″ Rally-style wheels mounted over Wilwood disc brakes. This modified Camaro is now offered on dealer consignment by a BaT Local Partner with a Wisconsin title.

The body was repainted in Tripoli Turquoise during the build completed in 2016, according to the selling dealer, who notes a ceramic coating has been applied over the clearcoat. Equipment includes a black soft top, a black top boot, a rear spoiler, simulated hood vents, SS badging, and an RS-style grille with hideaway headlamps. The seller notes a ding in the driver’s door.

The car rides on a Schwartz Performance G-Machine chassis with tubular front control arms, a triangulated four-link rear setup, and adjustable coilovers at all four corners.

The 17″ Rally wheels are mounted with 235/45 Continental ExtremeContact DW tires. The car is equipped with power rack-and-pinion steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted Wilwood four-wheel discs.

The cabin features TMI bolstered front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black leather and suede along with black door panels and carpets. Appointments include a center console, a horseshoe-style shifter, a Vintage Air climate-control system, and a RetroSound stereo linked to kick-panel speakers.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames Dakota Digital instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, dual digital displays, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The digital odometer indicates 4k miles have been added since the build.

The 6.2-liter LS3 V8 crate engine was installed in 2014 and features aftermarket coil covers, a billet accessory drive system, and a custom air intake. The Be Cool aluminum radiator is accompanied by an electric fan.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission, a custom aluminum driveshaft, and a Moser 9″ rear end with 31-spline axles and a 3.89:1 Eaton Truetrac differential. The dual exhaust system has an X-pipe and MagnaFlow mufflers.
