Radio Flyer Wagon-Style, 350-Powered Custom Roadster

This custom vehicle is modeled after the iconic Radio Flyer “little red wagon,” and it was commissioned by the current owner around four years ago. Based on a shortened 1999 GMC Sonoma chassis, it features wood stakes, a removable handle, and steel bodywork that pivots upward on hydraulic pistons. Power comes from a 350ci Chevrolet V8 linked to a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, and the vehicle rides on 15” wheels with an independent front suspension, a four-link rear setup, power steering, and front disc brakes. The bed offers a bench seat, air conditioning, front- and rear-facing cameras, a PA system, an Alpine head unit, and Stewart-Warner gauges. This big red wagon is now offered on dealer consignment with a clean Carfax report and a Nevada title listing the custom as a 1999 GMC Sonoma.

The wraparound bodywork was fabricated from steel sheet and box tubing, and it is finished in red with white Radio Flyer graphics. Stake sides constructed from wood boards surround the rear cargo area, and the removable handle mounts to a rigid bracket. A flat windshield has been added along with headlights in chrome buckets and ’59 Cadillac-style taillights. The vehicle measures approximately 15’ long, 7’ wide, and 8.5’ tall with the handle installed.

Hydraulic pistons raise the body to provide access to the cockpit and engine compartment.

The 15” wheels wear Coker American Classic whitewall tires and custom covers that mimic the appearance of Radio Flyer wagon wheels. The rear suspension was updated with a triangulated four-link setup with adjustable coilovers, while the independent coil-spring front assembly was retained. The vehicle is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums with a Wilwood dual-circuit master cylinder.

The bench seat is trimmed in gray upholstery, and black bedliner has been applied to the floors. A Fookoo display mounted ahead of the driver shows the views from front- and rear-facing cameras, and an aftermarket air conditioning system has been installed along with an Alpine touchscreen head unit, rear-mounted speakers, and a PA system.

The billet steering wheel is mounted to an Ididit tilt column and sits ahead of Stewart-Warner instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 1,100 miles, which represents the distance driven since the build was completed.

Speakers are mounted in the cargo area.

The 350ci Chevrolet V8 is equipped with a bug-catcher air scoop, an Edelbrock 500cfm four-barrel carburetor, finned valve covers, a serpentine accessory drive, and a 140-amp alternator. The aluminum radiator is cooled by dual electric fans, and four-into-one headers flow into a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers.

The TH350 three-speed automatic transmission has an external cooler and sends power to the rear wheels through a ten-bolt rear end. The chassis was shortened and refinished in black during the build.

The vehicle is titled as a 1999 GMC Sonoma using the VIN 1GTCS1949X8501838, which appears on the identification plate shown above.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
