This 1979 Triumph Spitfire 1500 is a left-hand-drive example initially delivered to Anaheim British Cars in California, and after it was imported to the United Kingdom in 2005, it was acquired by the seller in 2015. It is powered by a 1.5-liter inline-four that was rebuilt in 2017 and outfitted with dual SU carburetors, a stainless-steel exhaust system, and electronic ignition, while the four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and differential were rebuilt in 2023. Finished in Porcelain White, the car features 13″ wire-spoke wheels, a body color hardtop, a replacement black soft top, a luggage rack, and Lucas Tripod headlights and driving lights in addition to an interior reupholstered in black vinyl with houndstooth seat inserts, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and a RetroSound Bluetooth stereo. This Spitfire is now offered in the United Kingdom with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, historic US paperwork, and UK V5 registration.

The Spitfire was introduced in 1962 and manufactured through 1980, and the 1500 was the final model offered from 1975 to 1980. This North American Export example was produced in the penultimate year of production and left the factory in Porcelain White.

Features include Lucas P700 Tripod headlights and covered driving lights as well as a body color hardtop, stainless steel bumpers, headlight stone guards, a rear luggage rack, and a black soft top reportedly installed in 2020. A variety of event and club badges and decals are affixed to the car.

The 13″ wire wheels are mounted with Blockley tyres, and stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums. The seller tells us that EBC rotors and pads are fitted up front, and Euro-specification springs and shocks are installed.

The left-hand-drive cabin features bucket seats that are stated to have been retrimmed in black vinyl with houndstooth cloth inserts in January 2020, at which point the seat foam was replaced. Amenities include a wood-veneer dashboard, a heater, and a RetroSound Bluetooth stereo.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 7k of which were added under current ownership.

The 1.5-liter inline-four and dual SU carburetors were rebuilt by Jigsaw Racing Specialists in 2017, per the seller, and it features K&N pancake air cleaners, a stainless-steel exhaust system, electronic ignition, and a Lucas ignition coil. The battery was replaced in April 2026. A dynamometer report from November 2018 is presented in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive and a differential with 3.63:1 gearing that were reportedly rebuilt in January 2023. The clutch disc and throwout bearing were replaced in March 2023, per the seller.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows factory colors and equipment and indicates that the car was built on September 7, 1979, and dispatched to Los Angeles, California.
The vehicle is being sold on its UK V5 registration.
