Fostering a kitten is supposed to be temporary. You give them a warm place to sleep, plenty of food, and lots of love until they’re ready for their forever home. Unfortunately, nobody told little Agatha that she was only supposed to be staying for a few weeks.
When one family took in the tiny kitten, the plan was simple. Agatha had come from a feral cat colony and needed someone who could bottle-feed her and give her a safe place to grow. The family had fostered plenty of kittens before, so this wasn’t exactly unfamiliar territory.
But there’s a big difference between fostering an entire litter and caring for one tiny kitten. With a litter, the kittens have each other to play with and cuddle. When there’s only one, you end up spending much more time holding, feeding, and bonding with them. That’s a dangerous situation for anyone hoping to avoid another permanent pet.
Agatha also had some pretty convincing allies. The family’s son took on overnight feeding and cleaning shifts, sometimes caring for her between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. All that time together paid off, and the little kitten grew to absolutely adore and trust him. Looking at their pictures together, it’s pretty clear the feeling is mutual.
She even managed to win over the family’s Great Danes, joining them for afternoon naps. Considering how tiny Agatha is next to those enormous dogs, we can only imagine how comfortable she must be snuggled up beside them.
But the moment that really sealed the deal involved the family’s husband. About two weeks after Agatha arrived, she was crying for her bottle when her foster mom heard him coming down the hallway, reassuring the kitten that Daddy was coming to get her.
Well, that’s one way to announce you’ve become a cat dad.
By that point, it sounds like Agatha had already made herself at home. Between her devoted human brother, her giant canine cuddle buddies, and a dad who was completely wrapped around her tiny paw, there wasn’t much reason for her to go anywhere else.
Now approximately nine weeks old, Agatha has officially graduated from foster kitten to permanent family member. The little former feral kitten has traded life outdoors for the comforts of being a thoroughly spoiled house princess.
