This 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL was purchased by the seller in 1994 and refurbished the following year. The car is powered by a 2.8-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed automatic transmission and finished in white over red MB-Tex. Equipment includes a black convertible top, a blue Pagoda hardtop, 14″ steel wheels, a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, power steering, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. This W113 SL is now offered with manufacturer’s literature, build photos, and a Pennsylvania title in the seller’s name.

The car was originally Horizon Blue. It was stripped to bare metal and repainted white in 1996. The black convertible top was installed at that time, and the Pagoda hardtop remains finished in Horizon Blue. Exterior details include US-specification headlights, front and rear bumper overriders, dual side mirrors, and twin exhaust finishers. A paint bubble is noted on the right-rear area of the trunk lid.

Steel 14″ wheels wear polished covers with white centers and are mounted with 185/70 Michelin HydroEdge tires. The car is equipped with power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes and power steering.

Originally trimmed in navy, the cabin was re-trimmed in red MB-Tex during the 1990s refurbishment. Coordinating red upholstery extends to the door panels, and red carpeting lines the floors. Appointments include a Becker Europa AM/FM radio, a VDO analog clock, a wood center storage tray, a floor-mounted shifter, and a heater.

An ivory-color two-spoke steering wheel features a chrome horn ring. It frames VDO instrumentation including a 140-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline. Gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, and oil pressure are housed in a central combination instrument. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 15k miles of which were added under current ownership.

The 2.8-liter M130 inline-six is equipped with Bosch mechanical fuel injection and was rated at 180 horsepower and 193 lb-ft of torque when new. The engine was rebuilt in 1996, and the seller notes the car has been driven around 10k miles since.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission.

Photos detailing the build process are provided in the gallery below and included in the sale.
The Pennsylvania title carries a Classic Vehicle brand.
