Fuel-Injected, 302-Powered 1961 Ford Falcon Ranchero

This 1961 Ford Falcon Ranchero was transformed as part of a custom build during a multiyear project completed primarily between 2019 and 2025. The build centers on a rebuilt 302ci Ford V8 with roller valvetrain, aluminum heads, a roller camshaft, Edelbrock intake, FiTech electronic fuel injection, and stainless-steel headers, and it is linked to  a Ford 4R70W electronic automatic transmission and a 31-spline Ford 9″ rear axle with 3.50:1 gearing and an Eaton differential. The chassis and suspension were substantially upgraded with RRS coilover front suspension, power rack-and-pinion steering, a TCI four-link rear setup, 13″ front and 12″ rear disc brakes, and an electronic parking brake. Additional modifications include 17″ REV wheels, Vintage Air climate control, power windows and locks, custom upholstery and paintwork, extensive sound deadening, and a custom audio system. Driven approximately 420 miles since the work was completed, this Ranchero is now offered by Classic Cars Las Vegas, a BaT Local Partner, on consignment with service records and a California title.

The pickup is finished in Deep Amethyst/Black Current Pearl, using Toyota paint code 9AH, and features a cargo bed with a drop-down tailgate, dual side mirrors, chrome front and rear bumpers, and a Craft Tech bed cover with dual pneumatic lifts. Chips are noted on the front end, with rust present at the rear inner corners of the quarter panels.

The front suspension uses RRS coilovers with braced control arms, strut rods with spherical bearings, a sway bar, and power rack-and-pinion steering. The rear incorporates a triangulated TCI Falcon four-link system modified for the Ranchero and paired with QA1 adjustable coilovers and a sway bar. Subframe connectors are also fitted.

The REV wheels are mounted with Hankook tires measuring 225/45 front and 245/45 rear. Braking is provided by power-assisted 13″ front and 12″ rear discs, with an electronic parking brake operated by a dash-mounted switch.

The cabin features a split bench upholstered with gray upholstery and custom piping, as well as custom-matched door panels, headliner, kick panels, and rear deck trim. The interior was fitted with Dynamat-type insulation throughout the floors, doors, firewall, rear wall, and roof. Power windows and door locks, Vintage Air air conditioning, seatbelts, and a custom audio system with an Alpine five-channel amplifier, twin 10″ subwoofers, separate drivers and tweeters in the kick panels, and rear surround speakers were retrofitted. A small stain is noted on the rear of the driver’s seat.

The four-spoke steering wheel is mounted to an Ididit tilt steering column and fronts custom electronic gauges, including a GPS-based speedometer. A Lokar shifter is mounted in the console. The five-digit odometer shows 418 miles, all of which were added since the build was completed.. Total mileage is unknown.

The 302ci Ford V8 was rebuilt and features roller lifters, billet aluminum roller rockers, a roller camshaft, Skip White NKB aluminum heads with port matching and screw-in rocker studs, and an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold. FiTech electronic fuel injection is supplied by a 22-gallon Tanks Inc. baffled fuel tank with a submerged electric pump. A Progression Ignition progressive electronic distributor, stainless-steel block-hugger headers, and an oversized radiator with dual 10″ cooling fans are also fitted.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Ford 4R70W electronic automatic transmission controlled by a US Shift-2 programmable controller and equipped with a transmission cooler. The rear axle is a Quick Performance 31-spline Ford 9″ unit with 3.50:1 gearing and an Eaton differential.

A summary of the build is shown above, and associated parts invoices and instruction sheets will accompany the car.
