Samsung’s Smart Glasses Rumored to Launch Mid-December

If you were hoping to find Samsung’s smart glasses under the tree, the timing just got tighter. South Korean outlet ChosunBiz reports that Samsung’s Intelligent Eyewear will go on sale in mid-December, and only in South Korea and the United States at first. Samsung hasn’t confirmed any of that, so treat it as a rumor for now.

That’s a few weeks later than the November launch people were expecting a month ago. Samsung itself has only said the glasses are coming this year.

What you’d actually be buying

The glasses are Samsung’s first try at everyday smart eyewear, built with Google and two eyewear brands, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. They run Google’s Android XR software and its Gemini assistant, and they have a camera, microphones and speakers. There’s no screen in the lenses, so you talk to the glasses and they talk back.

Samsung says the battery lasts up to nine hours on a charge. The software is the same Android XR platform that powers Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset, so the glasses should feel familiar if you’ve tried that. Samsung hasn’t said how prescription lenses will work, which matters if you already wear glasses every day.

Price is still the big unknown. ChosunBiz says Samsung hasn’t settled on one yet, and the company has only described it as a reasonable price for something in its higher-end range. Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses already sell for around $300, so Samsung will have to justify charging more. That’s an Android Central estimate, not a Samsung number.

Why only two countries?

Samsung reportedly wants to watch how buyers in the US and South Korea react before it sells the glasses anywhere else. Europe, China and Japan are reportedly left out of the first round. It’s the same playbook Samsung used for its Galaxy XR headset, which launched in those two countries and took months to reach the UK.

If you live somewhere else, you’ll probably be waiting into 2027. Even in the US, mid-December leaves only a couple of weeks before Christmas, so a gift purchase would be cutting it close. Samsung has more to say before then, starting with a price and an exact date.
