Everyone keeps talking about how great it is to have a loving partner during cuffing season, but no one talks about the best time to have a loving cat by your side.
I love my cats in every season, every month, and every day of the year. When it’s hot outside, when it’s cold, and any minute in between. However, if you were to twist my arm, I would undoubtedly admit that I love my cats the most during the winter, or more specifically, during cuffing season. I’m not a spoiled person, and I don’t think I need much, but a warm embrace from my cats when the weather is crisp and cold outside is something I could never live without.
You see, when it truly gets cold outside, a few changes embark upon my cats that simply make them purrfect. First, the cuddles. The chilly air makes these awwdorable felines want to cuddle with me in bed and never leave. They go under the covers, they sit on top of my cold feet, and they warm me up better than any heater or blanket. The second is more about my cats’ appearances and physical changes. During the summer, my cats shed… a lot. They are hot, and they don’t need all that fur, so that fur ends up as hairballs on the floor, next to my pillows, and more often than I like to admit, in my food. But in fall or winter, that fur is necessary to them, it provides them protection, so the cats hold on to every hair of it. They double their fluff, which makes them extra cosy. That is how they become these majestic, beautiful fluff balls that I simply cannot ignore. I can pet them all day long and never get tired of it.
Sure, it might be nice to have an actual hooman to celebrate the holidays with, but if you ask me, another person cannot possibly compare to a little fiesty feline to basically go into hibernation with. As far as I am concerned, I have no problem staying in bed with them, scrolling through endless cat memes, and petting them while they purr all my worries away.
