Electric auto manufacturer Leapmotor recently announced that it’s launching a new hatchback model for the European C-segment, with competitive pricing to boot. Officially dubbed the Leapmotor C-hatchback B05, the fully-electric vehicle is priced starting at €26,900, and combines daily practicality with a rather sporty design in the mix as well.

The B05 features a wide body with a coupe-inspired silhouette and a shoulder width of 1,880mm, with an exterior that Leapmotor says is designed for both aesthetics and efficiency. It’s clear that the manufacturer has done all it can in terms of aesthetics (as far as hatchback designs, permit at least), and touches like frameless doors, hidden handles, and 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels give it a more a distinct presence.

Engineered in collaboration with Stellantis, Leapmotor says that the B05’s chassis is specifically tuned for European roads. The car is powered by a motor with up to 218hp (160 kW) and 240 Nm of torque, allowing for sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds; it also comes with a dedicated Launch Control mode for performance.

At its core, the vehicle uses a Cell-to-Chassis (CTC) system which integrates the battery directly into the frame for improved structural rigidity and interior space. Drivers can choose between two battery variants with a 56.2 kWh pack offering a 401 km WLTP range, or a 67.1 kWh version reaching up to 482 km. For charging, the car can top up from 30% to 80% in around 17 minutes. IN the cabin, the B05 comes with an infotainment setup which consists of a dual-screen cockpit, with a 14.6-inch central display and an 8.8-inch digital cluster.

As for safety, the car is equipped with 21 ADAS functions powered by a suite of 14 sensors and cameras, a high-strength body structure along with a seven-airbag system as well.
