It wasn’t too long ago that Insta360 launched the Luna Ultra, the company’s first real push into gimbal camera territory and a direct shot at DJI’s Osmo Pocket line. Now DJI has fired back with the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P, and it’s the most ambitious Pocket the company has built.

The biggest change is the camera setup. For the first time in the Pocket line, DJI added a second lens. The setup pairs a 1-inch wide-angle main camera with a dedicated 60mm telephoto. Dynamic range hits 17 stops on the main sensor, with 10-bit D-Log2 color and 4K at up to 240fps. The whole thing weighs 230 grams and comes with 103GB of built-in storage. Starting price in China is 3,799 yuan, roughly $525 USD.

US buyers can’t order one yet, though. DJI has been on the FCC Covered List since December 2025, which blocks new hardware from US sale, with no public timeline for when that changes.

Meanwhile, DJI and Insta360 Are in Court

The same day the Luna Ultra went on sale in the US, DJI filed two patent infringement lawsuits against Insta360 in the Eastern District of Texas. The first targets the Luna’s physical design, arguing it copies the architecture of the Osmo Pocket line. The second goes after four functionality patents covering gimbal control and subject tracking. DJI is seeking a permanent injunction and damages. Insta360 countersued two days later with five patents of its own.

This is also DJI’s second legal action against Insta360 in 2026. A March lawsuit in China covered six patents related to drone flight control and image processing. The rivalry between these two has officially moved from the camera aisle to the courtroom.
