This 1970 Pontiac GTO convertible was delivered new to Pitts Pontiac of Webster, New York, and has remained with its current owner and their spouse for nearly five decades. The car was taken off the road in the late 1980s, and refurbishment work beginning in 2019 consisted of a repaint in Atoll Blue, rebuilding the 400ci V8, installing electronic fuel injection, aluminum cylinder heads, and Hotchkis suspension upgrades. Power is routed through a four-speed manual transmission and a Safe-T-Track differential, and further equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, 15″ Rally II wheels, a hood-mounted tachometer, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, a Hurst shifter, and an AM/FM stereo. This GTO convertible is now offered on dealer consignment by a BaT Local Partner with PHS Automotive Services documentation, a reproduction window sticker, service records, and transferable New York registration.

The car underwent a refurbishment in 2019 and is finished in Atoll Blue. Exterior equipment includes a replacement power-operated Black convertible soft top, a color-keyed Endura front bumper, quad headlights, a twin-scoop hood, a hood-mounted tachometer, and a black vinyl boot cover.

Rally II 15″ wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and suspension modifications include Hotchkis springs, sway bars, lower control arms, tie rods, upper trailing arms, and Fox rear shocks. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The front bucket and rear bench seats are trimmed in black vinyl, and engine-turned trim accents the dashboard. A Hurst T-handle shifter is found in the center console, and an AM/FM radio and heater controls are fitted in the factory locations.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a woodgrain dashboard fascia with a 140-mph speedometer flanked by an analog clock and a combination gauge indicating engine temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 94 miles, and the total mileage is unknown.

The 400ci V8 was rebuilt during the restoration and features an Edelbrock intake manifold and aluminum cylinder heads along with a Pro-Flo electronic port fuel injection setup. Other reported components include JE forged pistons, H-beam connecting rods, a Powermaster alternator, and a high-torque starter. Photos taken during the engine build are provided in the gallery below.

The engine code stamp is shown above, and photos of other identification stamps taken during the work in 2019 are provided in the gallery.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a Safe-T-Track limited-slip differential. Revised exhaust manifolds are linked to a dual exhaust system with a crossover pipe and Flowmaster mufflers.

The transmission ID stamp is displayed in the gallery.
