Feeling old lately? This story won’t help. That’s because there comes a point when every car crosses an uncomfortable line and becomes a classic. Don’t look now, but that now includes cars made after Y2K. For those of us who still think of the 2000s as basically yesterday, RADwood has some bad news. Cars from as recently as 2010 are now officially invited to the party.
RADwood NorCal returns to the San Francisco Bay Area on October 24, and this year’s event brings several significant changes. For starters, admission is completely free. More importantly, the traditionally ’80s-and-’90s-focused show is expanding into the post-Y2K era. That’s a massive shift in what is already quite the car show.

The new “Millenia” class will welcome cars built between 2000 and 2010. That potentially puts everything from an early Honda S2000 and E46 BMW M3 to a Dodge Viper, Nissan 350Z, and C6 Corvette into RADwood eligibility. Basically, the pool is going to be huge and, as mentioned, this is the first free RADwood event, so expect a huge crowd. Things kick off at 4 p.m. at Gold Bar Hangar at Alameda Point. Attendees still need to register beforehand, while Hagerty Drivers Club members can enter an hour early.
On top of that, there’s a special addition called Wheels in Motion. Rather than simply setting up gorgeous classic cars in a lot with the hoods open, it’s going to send a selection of period cars by spectators at full throttle down a runway. Exactly which vehicles will participate hasn’t been announced, but organizers promise some of the era’s “most significant rides” performing flybys. Ever hear an E60 M5 with its V10 screaming by at full throttle? Hopefully, it’s on the list.
Due to all of these shifts and changes, RADwood organizers are expecting hundreds of cars, trucks, and motorcycles. There are dedicated classes for Kei cars, tuners, movie cars, and a full-on Mustang vs. Camaro section. Pioneer will attend and handle the period-correct soundtrack. Food trucks will also be on hand, and there’s a Raddest Dressed competition to cap things off.
RADwood will announce celebrity guests and other enthusiast-focused attractions as we get closer to the event. This event began as a celebration of vehicles from 1980 through 1999. It’s always highlighted period-correct cars, music, and clothing. Adding 2000–2010 machinery seems like a natural progression, even if we’re not emotionally prepared to call a 2010 model-year car nostalgic.
