This 1965 Ford Mustang fastback is a non-running project that was purchased by the seller in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1988 and was used as a daily driver for three years before serving as a weekend car for approximately 15 years. The car was moved to Texas in 1995, and it was parked approximately 20 years ago and later became the subject of a stalled refurbishment that began in 2006. Modifications include a fiberglass GT350-style hood and front apron, fender flares, quarter windows, Centerline Convo Pro wheels, disc brakes, a 1971-block 302ci V8, and a Thunderbird AOD automatic. This Mustang is now offered at no reserve with spare parts and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in blue and was stripped and repainted in 1990. Exterior modifications include a fiberglass GT350-style hood, a fiberglass front apron, quater windows, and fender flares. The seller notes parking-lot damage at the left-front corner near the headlight area as well as evidence of prior repair work behind the driver-side rear wheel that is visible from inside the trunk. Some corrosion is noted, and the seller states that the car has been garaged since 1988 in dry climates. The windshield has a small rock chip.

The Centerline Convo Pro wheels are mounted with Phantom A/P tires up front and BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires at the rear. Some damage is present on the front right wheel. Power-assisted front disc brakes are fitted, and the seller states that the rear drum brakes were converted to discs in 2005. The original rear drum-brake components are included.

The partially assembled cabin features black-painted metal surfaces, a white headliner, and beige Pony-style door panels. The floor pans were patched and trunk-panel replacement work was started in 2006. Included interior parts consist of fiberglass trim pieces, a folding rear seat, an under-dash air-conditioning unit, a compressor, and a condenser. Seats from a 1971 Mustang are also part of the sale.

The 302ci V8 is based on a 1971 block and was installed in 1987. It has a Holley carburetor, a mesh air cleaner, dual remote oil filters, an HEI distributor, and headers, though no exhaust is mounted after the collectors. A power-steering pump and slave cylinder accompany the car. The seller states that the engine has not been started in over 20 years, adding that it can be turned over by hand. The car’s VIN indicates that it was factory-equipped with an A-code 289ci V8.

A four-speed AOD automatic transmission that came from a 1981 Thunderbird was retrofitted. There is no driveshaft currently installed, but the removed unit accompanies the car.

Additional spare and removed parts are displayed in the gallery, which include an exhaust system and the heater/ventilation duct box with motor.

The Texas title lists the odometer reading as Exempt.
