2.0L-Powered 1980 BMW 320i 5-Speed at No Reserve

This 1980 BMW 320i is said to have underwent over $47k in refurbishment, modification, and service work since 2013, including a repaint in red, a refresh of the tan interior, and the fitting of aftermarket exhaust components at that time. Later work in 2021-22 reportedly involved rust repairs and the installation of a 2.0-liter M10 inline-four, a Weber carburetor, 15″ alloy wheels, and Bilstein dampers, along with servicing the brakes and replacing the speedometer, driveshaft, clutch hydraulic cylinders, tires, engine and transmission mounts, and more. The car is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission, front disc brakes, a sunroof, air conditioning, and an Alpine CD stereo. Purchased by its current owner in 2026, this E21 is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of its owner with a refurbishment summary and a clean New Jersey title in the name of the owner’s LLC.

Factory-finished in Henna Red (052), the car received a repaint in 2013 and then a replacement right-side door and rear-panel rust repairs in 2022. The front bumper mounts have been shortened, and other exterior details include a sunroof, quad headlights, pop-out rear vent windows, and a heatable rear window. The hazard-light flasher, windshield-washer pump, and low-beam headlights were reportedly replaced in 2021. The seller notes dings in the front kidney grille along with cracked and aged rear-window moldings.

Minilite-style 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 205/50 Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 tires produced in 2021. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the calipers and drums have been painted red. Per the seller, service in 2021-22 included fitting Bilstein dampers and stainless-steel brake lines as well as replacing the steering-rack mounts, lower control arms, and the right-front wheel bearing and outer tie-rod end.

Tan leatherette covers the front bucket seats and the rear bench in addition to the door and side panels. Additional appointments include air conditioning that was converted to use R134a as well as an Alpine CD stereo, a heater and defroster, and BMW-branded floor mats. The cracked dashboard has been fitted with a cover, and other areas of interior wear are depicted in the gallery.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames a replacement 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,800-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The replacement six-digit odometer shows 3k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The replacement M10 inline-four is said to be a rebuilt unit displacing 2.0 liters, installed in 2022. MaxSil 9.5:1-compression-ratio pistons have reportedly been fitted, along with a Weber carburetor, Ireland Engineering exhaust headers, and the following replacement items:

  • Low-pressure fuel pump
  • Upper fuel-tank seal
  • Fuel-pressure regulator, fittings, and gauge
  • Fuel filter
  • Engine mounts
  • Cooling fan

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. An ANSA dual-outlet muffler has been fitted to the exhaust system. Work in 2021-22 is said to have included resealing the transmission, changing the differential fluid, and replacing the driveshaft, flex disc, and universal joint as well as the CV-joint boots, clutch hydraulic cylinders, and the transmission and shift-tower mounts.
