50-Years-Owned 1972 BMW 2002tii

This 1972 BMW 2002tii is said to have been registered with one owner before it was acquired by the seller in 1976, and it is powered by a 2.0-liter M10 inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Finished in metallic copper over black Skai vinyl, the car is equipped with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, 13″ steel wheels, a Clarion cassette stereo, a wooden shift knob, three-point front seatbelts, sisal floor mats, and a heater. This roundie tii is now offered with a clean Missouri title in the name of the seller and their spouse.

The car is finished in metallic copper and features include vent windows, bright trim, and round taillights. The seller tells us the car was involved in a collision with another vehicle in 1976, and the left front fender was subsequently repaired. Work in 2016 is said to have included addressing rust spots and refinishing the exterior before it was driven in a family wedding. There is a dent in the right quarter panel in front of the rear wheel, an area of rust is present on the right rear wheel arch, there are scratches to the left of the rear license plate, and additional photos of paint and trim imperfections are viewable in the gallery below.

The 13″ steel wheels are mounted with 175/70 Michelin Defender tires. The car was equipped from the factory with front and rear anti-roll bars. The seller tells us that the front disc and rear drum brakes would benefit from being overhauled.

The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench trimmed in black Skai vinyl. Additional appointments include a wooden shift knob, sisal floor mats, a Clarion cassette stereo, a heater, and a locking glovebox. The air conditioning does not work, and areas of discoloration are shown on the headliner.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 4k miles, and an estimated 100k miles have been driven under current ownership. The odometer is inoperative, and total mileage is unknown.

The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four features Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 140 horsepower and 130 lb-ft of torque. The seller notes that service under current ownership consisted of oil changes and tune-ups. A non-tii “snorkel” is present on the radiator support. The engine burns oil.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Additional photos of the underside condition are viewable in the gallery.
