42-Years-Owned 1934 McNeil & Norris 26′ Launch

This 26′ wood-hulled launch was built in 1934 by McNeil & Norris of Bala, Ontario, and is said to have been used as a hotel shuttle on nearby Lake Muskoka. It was purchased by its current owner in 1984, and a subsequent refurbishment culminating in 1990 involved replacing the bottom, revarnishing the topsides and deck, and rebuilding the Buchanan Model 75-90 inline-six. The boat won several awards at Ontario boat shows following the refurbishment, including Best in Show and People’s Choice trophies. Features include dual cockpits upholstered in red vinyl as well as navigation lights, a dual-pane folding windscreen, fore and aft flag holders, and a three-blade bronze propeller. Jennifer Ann is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with New York registration in the owner’s name.

The hull’s bottom was replaced and refinished in black during the refurbishment at which time the topsides and deck were sanded and varnished. The boat features an upswept raised-deck design as well as a polished cutwater, stainless-steel deck hardware, navigation lights, fore and aft flag holders, and a dual-pane folding windscreen.

Photos taken before and during the refurbishment can be viewed in the gallery below.

The aft cockpit houses two bench seats upholstered in red vinyl along with rear-facing wicker seats, and the smaller forward cockpit contains a matching bench and wraparound coaming pad.

The port-side helm features a black four-spoke steering wheel with hub-mounted levers for the throttle and manual timing advance. A chrome floor-mounted gear selector is located ahead of the operator’s seat, and instrumentation mounted to the wooden dash consists of a 4k-rpm tachometer and gauges for amperage and oil pressure. The boat is not equipped with an hour meter, and total runtime is unknown.

The midship-mounted Buchanan Model 75-90 inline-six was rebuilt during the refurbishment. It is equipped with a one-piece bronze carburetor, copper fluid lines, and an electric starter. The engine was last started circa 2014, after which it was pickled before being placed into storage.

Power is sent to the three-blade bronze propeller through a forward-reverse transmission.

Awards won following the refurbishment are included in the sale.

The boat does not have a title and is offered on its New York registration, which serves as the ownership document in the state of New York.
