Original-Owner 2001 Volkswagen GTI at No Reserve

This 2001 Volkswagen GTI is a two-door GLS hatchback that was purchased new by the seller’s spouse in December 2000, and it has remained registered in Oregon since. Finished in Reflex Silver Metallic over black cloth with patterned inserts, the car is powered by a turbocharged 1.8-liter inline-four that drives the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transaxle. It also has a sunroof, a Dieselgeek aluminum skid plate, retrofitted HID headlights, 20th Anniversary Edition-specification springs, Bilstein dampers, ECS Tuning slotted front brake rotors, 17″ BBS wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, a cassette stereo linked to an in-dash six-disc CD changer, and a 20th Anniversary Edition-sourced steering wheel and handbrake lever. The timing belt was replaced in 2020, and work since July 2025 has included replacing the dogbone mount, exhaust camshaft seal, and tires. Now indicating 100k miles, this Mk4 GTI is offered at no reserve with a window sticker, a seller-prepared maintenance log, service records, spare parts, several keys, a clean Carfax report, and an Oregon title in the names of the seller and their spouse.

The car is finished in Reflex Silver Metallic (LA7W), and it is equipped with a sunroof, a rear window wiper, fog lights, and power-adjustable side mirrors. HID headlight assemblies have been retrofitted. The seller tells us that the car was involved in a low-speed accident in 2011, which reportedly did not result in any damage, though the front bumper cover has been replaced under current ownership. Chips in the finish are noted by the seller along with a ding in the right-rear quarter panel.

BBS 17″ wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires with production date codes from 2024. The suspension was fitted with 20th Anniversary Edition-specification springs, Bilstein dampers, and replacement control arms, lower ball joints, tie-rod ends, sway-bar links, and bushings in December 2018, while the four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes received a fluid flush, ECS Tuning slotted front rotors, Volkswagen rear rotors, and replacement Volkswagen pads in July 2025.

The heated front bucket seats and the rear bench seat are upholstered in black cloth with patterned inserts. Appointments include air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, a 20th Anniversary Edition-sourced handbrake lever, and a cassette stereo linked to an in-dash six-disc CD changer. The seller notes that the glove box door is sticky to the touch, and the door panel insert fabric is sagging.

The retrofitted 20th Anniversary Edition steering wheel is trimmed in perforated leather, and it sits ahead of a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 100k miles.

The turbocharged 1.8-liter DOHC inline-four produced 150 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque when new. The timing belt was replaced in August 2020, at which time the engine and transmission mounts were changed. The car was fitted with a replacement AGM battery, dogbone mount, and air filter in 2025, while the exhaust camshaft seal was replaced in May 2026.

Power is routed to the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transaxle. The car is equipped with a Dieselgeek “Panzer Plate” aluminum skid plate.

The included window sticker displays initial delivery to Wester Volkswagen of Seaside, California, and it lists factory colors and equipment along with a total price of $20,925. Factory literature, a seller-prepared maintenance log, service records, spare parts, and several keys will also accompany the car.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
