This 1985 Volkswagen GTI has been modified with a period Callaway Turbo conversion, a BBS bodykit, a custom exhaust system, a Lecarra steering wheel, three-piece 15″ BBS RS wheels, and coilover suspension. Finished in Mars Red over patterned cloth, the car also features four-wheel disc brakes, a sunroof, sport seats, and air conditioning, and the 1.8-liter inline-four drives the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. The seller purchased the car in 2018 and has since added approximately 200 miles of the under 35k miles shown. Service under current ownership has included a timing belt service, overhauling the fuel system, and replacing ignition components, and the exterior was repainted as well. This Mk2 GTI is now offered at no reserve in North Carolina as part of the Tons Of Gas Auto Collection with a Callaway Turbo certificate and a Montana title.

Redrilled three-piece 15″ BBS RS wheels are mounted with Toyo tires. The car is equipped with coilover suspension, and braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs. A rear wheel bearing kit was installed in January 2019, and the brake fluid was flushed in July 2026.

The interior features sport seats with patterened accents, air conditioning, and a BBS-logo shift knob. The aftermarket stereo is inoperative.

A Lecarra wheel fronts the stock cluster, which features an integrated trip computer. The six-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership.

In place of the factory stereo is a Callaway VDO boost gauge and a hard-wired radar detector.

The 1.8-liter inline-four was fitted with the Callaway Turbo conversion. Service in January 2019 included an oil and filter change, timing-belt service, water-pump and valve-cover gaskets, fuel filter, coolant-temperature sensor, timing-belt kit with tensioner, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, thermostat, water pump, battery, and fuel-pump check valve. Fuel-system components including the in-tank fuel pump, accumulator, and pump housing were replaced in March 2024. In July 2026, the fuel system was serviced following a fuel leak, including replacement of the fuel distributor, fuel injectors, and fuel-pump intake, along with spark plugs and engine oil.

Power is sent to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. A custom exhaust system with a resonator and a Dynomax muffler has been fitted.
