Grand Prix of America Go-Kart at No Reserve

This go-kart was built by Grand Prix of America, a company established by John and Jack DeLorean in 1973, for use at one of its four arrive-and-drive kart rental circuits. Following the seller’s purchase in 2026, the kart’s Honda V-Twin OHV GX610 received a replacement carburetor and spark plugs, and its oil and filter were changed. The drive belt and secondary clutch for the Comet CVT transmission were replaced, and the brakes were overhauled. This Grand Prix of America race kart is now offered in Candia, New Hampshire, on a bill of sale.

The karts were styled to resemble 1970s F1 cars and were used at four Grand Prix of America circuits across the U.S. The fiberglass body panels were produced by Outboard Marine Corporation in Manawa, Wisconsin, and are said to have been built before the facility closed in 1975. The bodywork was repainted red under prior ownership and features a rear wing and a chrome roll hoop. The condition of the bodywork is shown in the gallery.

The staggered-width 10″ wheels are secured with replacement lug nuts and fitted with replacement treaded tires comprising 18×8.00 Globaltrax units up front and BXT LG-307 20×12.00 units out back. During the refurbishment, one wheel bearing was replaced, and the other three were cleaned and re-greased. The braking system was overhauled with rebuilt Kelsey-Hayes front disc-brake calipers, turned brake rotors, metal brake lines, and a replacement dual brake master cylinder and reservoir. The front pads, rear dual-cylinder assemblies, and rear shoes were also replaced.

The cockpit features a molded seat with a headrest integrated into the roll hoop, as well as a black three-spoke steering wheel. The seller fabricated a replacement pedal assembly and installed an auxiliary starter button and kill switch on the steering column support. The kart is further equipped with rack-and-pinion steering. Worn paint is visible on the base of the seat.

The front-mounted fuel tank was cleaned during the refurbishment, and replacement fuel lines were fitted.

The Honda V-Twin OHV GX610 was installed under previous ownership, is factory-rated at 18 horsepower, and is equipped with a custom twin exhaust and air cleaner. Work under current ownership included changing the engine oil and filter and the differential oil, as well as replacing the carburetor, spark plugs, drive belt, and secondary clutch. The primary clutch was refurbished. A battery box was also fabricated, and a replacement battery was installed.

Corrosion is visible on the steel frame, floor pan, and hardware. The chassis number 004004 is stamped into the rear section.
