This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 sport coupe was equipped from the factory with a 454ci LS6 V8 and a Muncie four-speed manual transmission. The seller’s father acquired the car in 2015, and subsequent work consisted of installing a GM ZZ502 crate V8 and a Tremec Magnum six-speed manual transmission. The body is finished in Cranberry Red with black stripes and features a cowl-induction hood, a split black grille, and chrome trim, while the cabin is outfitted with black vinyl bench seats, Vintage Air Gen IV air conditioning, a retro-look stereo, Dakota Digital gauges, and a Muncie shifter. It is further equipped with 14″ Sport wheels, power steering, front disc brakes, and a Centerforce clutch kit. This Chevelle SS was acquired by the seller in 2025 and is now offered with its removed factory LS6 engine, transmission, and driveshaft as well as service records, a car cover, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Cranberry Red (75) and is said to have been refinished in the factory shade prior to 2015. Exterior details include black rally stripes, a cowl-induction hood, a split black grille, hideaway windshield wipers, and chrome bumpers and wheel arch moldings. The passenger door window does not roll down, and imperfections in the finish are detailed in the photo gallery.

The 14″ Sport wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires, and a covered spare is stowed in the trunk. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The tires were installed in 2020, and the braking system was overhauled between 2016 and 2019.

The bench seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and headrests are offered for the front occupants. Appointments include a retro-look digital radio, a Muncie shifter, and lap belts. The seller notes that the Vintage Air Gen IV air conditioning system is functional, but does not currently blow as cold as expected. Rust on the trunk floor is displayed in the gallery.

The tilting steering wheel frames a suite of Dakota Digital instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and an analog clock in addition to readouts for oil pressure, fuel level, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 301 miles, which represents the distance driven on the ZZ502 crate engine since installation. Chassis mileage is estimated at 19,150 per documentation including an appraisal and service records provided in the gallery. True mileage is unknown.

The GM Performance Parts ZZ502 crate V8 was installed by Driver’s Edge of Bee Cave, Texas, in 2021. The car was appraised by International Vehicle Appraiser’s Network in May 2015, and the associated report is displayed in the gallery.

The Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission was installed in early 2022 and fitted with a Centerforce dual-friction clutch kit. The 12-bolt rear axle is not original to the car, per the seller, and it features an open differential and 3.31:1 gearing. The fuel tank has been replaced.

The car’s non-running factory 454ci V8, Muncie four-speed manual transmission, and driveshaft are included in the sale. Photos of the engine stamp in the gallery indicate the unit is a 450-horsepower LS6 and carries the same numeric sequence as the VIN on the car. The engine block was repaired before the replacement engine was installed, per the seller, and rodent damage is noted in one of the cylinders.
