1948 Rover P3 75 Project at No Reserve

This 1948 Rover 75 is a six-light sedan that spent decades in Quebec, Canada, before being purchased by the seller on BaT in July 2020. The left-hand-drive car was driven about 20 miles under current ownership and has been stored indoors and not started since 2024. Sunroof repairs were begun by the seller, who notes that the brakes pulled to one side when the vehicle was driven most recently. The 2.1-liter straight-six is paired with a four-speed manual transmission with a freewheel clutch. Finished in silver over red, the car features wood interior trim, a rear window shade, semaphore turn signals, side mirrors, steel 16″ wheels, hubcaps, independent front suspension, anti-roll stabilizers, and an electric fuel pump. This non-running Rover project is now offered at no reserve in Canada with workshop manuals, spare parts, tire-changing tools, and Ontario registration in the seller’s name.

The exterior is finished in silver with black-painted fenders and a black stripe along the body. The previous BaT seller noted an area of paintwork on the driver door that resulted in a darker finish compared with the neighboring panels. Side mirrors are affixed to both front fenders, and mirrors also are attached to the front doors. The vehicle has a central driving light, rear-hinged doors, running boards, bright trim, semaphore turn signals, aftermarket reverse lights, and chrome bumpers.

Black-finished 16″ steel wheels wear chrome hubcaps and Maxtrek tires. The Rover P3 featured independent front suspension with anti-roll stabilizers as well as a hydraulic/mechanical hybrid braking system. The seller states that the car pulled to the left under braking when it was driven most recently.

The seats and the door panels are trimmed in red upholstery, and matching carpeting lines the floors. The wood dashboard is complemented by wood trim around the door glass. A lever near the driver-side door raises a blind in the rear window. The battery is located under the rear seat.

The seller planned to replace the rear section of the sliding sunroof, although the project has not been completed. The seller states that the sunroof opens and closes as designed.

Jaeger instruments housed in a metal panel include an 80-mph speedometer, a clock, and gauges for oil pressure, amperage, fuel level, and oil level. An Equus water-temperature gauge and a Simpson readout for voltage have been added lower on the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 39k miles, just over 20 of which were added under current ownership. The clock is inoperative.

The 2,103cc straight-six was updated with an electric fuel pump under prior ownership. The engine was serviced in 2024, according to the seller, who notes that the car has not been driven or started since around that time.

The floor-shifted four-speed manual transmission has synchromesh on its top two gears and is matched with a freewheel clutch. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.

The car’s chassis number is L8412440, whereas the Ontario registration paperwork cites the VIN as 48402440. The previous owner’s Quebec registration listed the same sequence for the VIN.

The vehicle is being sold on its Ontario registration, which carries a “PAS – UNF” notation and serves as the ownership document in Ontario, Canada.
