This 1954 MG TF was purchased by the owner’s spouse in 1995 and refurbished between 2010 and 2012. Work included repainting portions of the body, retrimming the interior in Biscuit leather, rebuilding the 1.5-liter inline-four, and installing a five-speed manual transmission. Additional equipment includes a tan tonneau cover, 15″ wire wheels, a folding windshield, and an MGA-sourced rear axle with 4.30:1 gearing. Previously offered on BaT in October 2018, the car is now offered on dealer consignment at no reserve with service records, invoices, a tonneau cover, and an Illinois title identifying it as a 1955 model. The total sale amount—including the BaT buyer’s fee—will be donated to Bridge Communities.

The car is finished in red with black fender welting. Bodywork performed by Ethics Auto Body of Maple Park, Illinois, in 2011 included spot repairs and refinishing the cowl, doors, and right rear fender. Exterior details include a folding windshield, fender-mounted mirrors, rear-hinged doors, bright running board trim, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The car is not equipped with a convertible top or side curtains, though a tan tonneau cover is included in the sale. Scratches are present in the finish.

Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and are wrapped in 165/80 Nankang CX-668 tires. A matching spare is mounted to the rear fuel tank carrier. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel drum brakes.

The low-back bucket seats are trimmed in Biscuit leather, which extends to the door panels and dashboard face. The floorboards were replaced during the refurbishment, and black carpeting was fitted. Additional appointments include dual dashboard storage compartments, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle, and lap belts.

The banjo-style steering wheel wears a lace-on aftermarket wrap and fronts an octagonal gauge cluster housing Jaeger instrumentation. The cluster includes a 105-mph speedometer with an inset clock, a tachometer, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. The water temperature instrument and ammeter were rebuilt in 2011. The five-digit odometer shows 49k miles, approximately 20k of which were added under current ownership.

The 1.5-liter inline-four was rebuilt in 2011 by Auto Machine Inc. of St. Charles, Illinois. Work involved cleaning the block, grinding the crankshaft, installing cylinder sleeves, and machining the cylinder head, as well as replacing the pistons, camshaft, bearings, timing parts, and seals. The dual SU carburetors were rebuilt during the refurbishment, and the radiator was cleaned, flow-tested, and painted. Maintenance in September 2026 included flushing the fuel lines, cleaning the fuel filter, an installing an Interstate battery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and an MGA-sourced rear axle with 4.30:1 gearing. The transmission utilizes a Quantum Mechanics conversion kit and an 8″ clutch. The fuel tank was sandblasted and internally coated with RENU in 2010.
The current title is a duplicate.
