2001 Saab 9-3 Viggen Convertible at No Reserve

This 2001 Saab 9-3 Viggen is a black-over-black convertible that was acquired by its current owner in 2015, and work since that time has involved retrimming the heated front seats, repainting the hood, overhauling the power steering system, installing an ETS intercooler, and replacing the convertible soft top along with the headliner. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four paired with a five-speed manual transaxle, and the car is further equipped with 17″ alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a front strut tower brace, a six-point subframe brace, a short-throw shifter, automatic climate control, and a CD stereo. This 9-3 Viggen is now offered by the seller on behalf of its current owner at no reserve with manufacturer’s literature, two key fobs, partial service records, a Carfax report, and a Michigan title in the name of the current owner’s trust.

The 9-3 Viggen features a revised rear hatch spoiler, aerodynamic bumper covers, and rocker panel extensions when compared to the standard 9-3. This example is finished in Black (170), and exterior equipment includes a replacement power-retractable black convertible top, power-adjustable side mirrors, headlight wipers, and fog lights. A damage entry is listed on the Carfax report in December 2004. The hood was repainted in 2022.

The 17″ five-spoke alloy wheels were refinished in August 2022 and are wrapped in 225/45 Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires. A front strut tower brace has been fitted, along with a revised rear sway bar and a six-point subframe brace. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. The power steering reservoir and lines were replaced in 2022.

The heated power-adjustable front bucket seats were retrimmed in Charcoal leather with Viggen seatback logos under current ownership, at which time the foam was refurbished, and the heating elements were replaced. A short-throw shifter has been installed, and amenities include driver-seat position memory settings, a CD stereo, cruise control, automatic climate control, Viggen-branded door sill plates, and a Saab Information Display with Night Panel function. The headliner was replaced in November 2021.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 155-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The digital odometer indicates 90k miles, approximately 26k of which have been added under current ownership. A mileage inconsistency is listed on the Carfax report in March 2015, although the report notes it may be the result of a clerical error.

The turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-four was factory rated at 230 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Aftermarket exhaust components and an ETS intercooler have been installed. The rear engine mount and mass air meter were replaced in March 2023.

Power is routed to the front wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle that received a fluid exchange in 2022. A sport transmission mount was fitted in March 2023.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned damage and mileage inconsistency entries.
