23-Years-Owned 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 Convertible

This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 is one of 404 convertibles produced for the model year and was originally specified in Highland Green with a powered white soft top, the Interior Décor and Visibility groups, a heavy-duty battery, the Extra Cooling Package, power steering and front discs, wheel lip moldings, a Sport Deck rear seat, a tilt-away steering wheel, an AM/FM radio, and a tachometer. Power is provided by a 302ci V8 paired with a C-4 three-speed automatic transmission. The seller purchased the car in November 2003 and has since added approximately 150 miles. This GT350 is now offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, removed tires, a car cover, and an Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The car was specified in Highland Green (R) with a powered white soft top.

The body features GT350 side stripes, a fiberglass hood with functional ram-air scoops and hood pins, quarter-panel air scoops, a ducktail rear spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and a power-operated cream soft top.

Reproduction Shelby 10-spoke 15″ aluminum wheels with Cobra center caps are mounted with 215/65 BFGoodrich tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The removed wheels, wheel covers, and tires, believed by the seller to be original to the car, are included with the sale.

The Interior Décor Group added woodgrain trim to the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, and center and overhead consoles, while the Visibility Group package specified a locking glovebox, under-dashboard courtesy lights, and illumination in the glovebox and trunk. The front bucket seats and rear seat are upholstered in black vinyl with knitted décor inserts. A push-button AM/FM radio has been retained.

The woodgrain steering wheel is mounted on a Tilt-Away steering column and frames a 140-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. Stewart-Warner auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 26k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.

The 302ci V8 was factory equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 250 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The Extra Cooling Package added a larger radiator, and a heavy-duty battery was also specified from the factory. Within the last three months, the master cylinder was rebuilt, brake components were replaced, and the Holley carburetor was rebuilt.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a C-4 three-speed automatic transmission and a conventional 3.50:1 rear axle. The seller notes that worn sections of the exhaust system were replaced with components replicating the original-style system.

The accompanying Marti Report confirms the car’s March 5, 1968 build date at the Metuchen, New Jersey, assembly plant and delivery to Yates-Stevens Ford of Kirkwood, Missouri, along with equipment.

The title carries an Actual Mileage notation with a odometer reading of 26,002 miles.
